Anyone know if bbt temp dips are are thing with IVF? I have a bbt thermometer I used when we were ttc naturally.
I used it for our first fresh transfer and had a temp dip around day 2dp5dt which I saw as a positive and went on to have a BFP. Sadly miscarried at 5.5 weeks.
I'm 3dp5dt today and had a distinctive dip this morning. This is my third transfer (2nd frozen) I didn't bother temping with my last frozen transfer and it was a BFN anyway. I just wondered if it even means anything with IVF as do all the drugs effect your temperature regardless?
I'm just so desperate for this to work so clinging to any hope of a positve sign. I bloody hate the 2WW!!!! Xx

BBT during IVF is a tricky one! I did it to keep up the habit and found it kind of interesting.
The drugs will make your temperature rise during the 2WW (because progesterone) but if you're also taking estrogen because it's a FET then it's sooo hard to say what means what. I mainly watched for a big continued dip as I assumed that meant the progesterone wasn't working as well - although that never happened. But I'm not sure if there's such a thing as an implantation dip in an IVF FET. On my last cycle I did have some temp wobbles and dips and it was successful but no idea if the BBT chart meant anything 🤷🏻♀️
Sorry that's not super helpful. But the awful thing about the 2WW is that there's often no sign whether it's worked or not worked... I hope it goes speedily for you!!! Xx
Hey HoopThanks for your reply, yeah I totally get your point. Think I’m clutching at straws on this one but also have a lot riding on this transfer. It’s our 3rd embryo from our first collection in March. The last one isn’t a great one so kinda feels like all the pressure is on now. Def had a distinctive dip yesterday and it’s back up this morning. May be nothing, guess I have another week of torment until I find out. I’ve been a buggar for early testing so trying my hardest to get to day 10 this time! Xx
The dip and going back up is not a bad thing that's for sure! And could certainly be a good sign.
I completely get that feeling though. I think I found transfer #3 the hardest emotionally and it does feel like so much riding on it 😓 I think I just assumed #1 or #2 would get me there. It's horrid. But you'll get through it! Looooads of distractions and treat yourself to the max because you totally deserve it.
By day 10 you should have your answer if you use a first response early test, too! Good luck 🤞🤞🤞 xxx
Hi Sara. Bbt temps are not really applicable during IVF as the medication will upset your normal pattern. Just keep up with any prescribed medication and Folic Acid and test on the day recommended by your clinic. Keep busy and good luck! Diane
I did and now have a 16 month old baby boy!! It was my 3rd transfer. I honestly don't know if the temp drop meant anything but I was a serial symptom spotter in the TWW. It's so bloody hard! Are you in it now?
Yeah, soon to test at home at 8dp5dt. I am not very hopeful to be honest. A lot of lapses by my clinic. It could go either way. My progesterone was 22.89 nmol/L on 4dp5dt and its 47.99 nmol/L at 6dp5dt after proluton injection given on 4dp5dt.
If this succeds it will be a miracle. If it doesn't it will be my 3rd failed transfer. My trauma brain is asking me to be prepared for the worst.
