Intralipid infusions (NK cell treatment)

What is everyones view on intralipid infusions as part of the treatment plan for elevated nk cells?

I'm really confused by this part as some clinics recommend it and others don't include it as part of plan.

It's been added to my treatment plan and I need to decide by Wednesday when I have my nurse consultation.

Has anyone had the infusions or chose not to?

Thanks!

Hiya,

I had it - 3 to be exact. I have no idea if it helped but alongside the steroids it was our first ever BFP.

I think it’s a treatment used for some cancers, although it is actually a good supplement…

It wasn’t too expensive so I thought I would try it. Had nothing to lose by this point xx

I have had 2 already and probably due a third one soon alongside steroids. I’m 10 weeks now. I had 3 miscarriages before with one of them due do anomalies. It makes me feel better to have the meds as if they offered it, must be because your NK or cytokines must be higher than normal? x

I have been prescribed this for my fifth IVF egg collection/fresh transfer cycle having only been diagnosed with high NK and cytokine after one MMC and 4 failed IVF egg collection/fresh transfers. I am absolutely over the moon to be offered this. It feels as though there is finally a reason for my implantation failures of the 6 embryos that were transferred in total and failed to implant and a solution which may help. There is no way in the world I would turn this down. I just wish I had been tested sooner as this will be my last IVF and the chances of getting a normal embryo with no chromosomal abnormalities with the number of eggs I usually get is slim so even if this does work to reduce the NK cells and inflammation the chances of me getting pregnant will be low. However it currently represents my best possible chance based on the NK cells and Cytokine diagnosis!

Yes, I had it alongside with steroids to treat my elevated NK cell. I took it once before the transfer, then at BFP, then every 4 weeks till 16 weeks. My baby was born in March this year. It worths to try and it is not very expensive.

Hello! Can I ask what dose of steroids you were on? And when did you take it before the transfer ?

I was on 25. I started 5 days before the transfer.

Great, thanks for all the advice. I will definitely be doing the infusion now.I've had 4 failed ICSI rounds and I pushed for the nk cell testing after 4th round after the clinic said it wasn't recommended after my 3rd even though I asked then. It came back with elevated nk cells which is what I thought after 7 embryos in total never implanted.

This upcoming cycle may be my last so going to try everything 🤞

Intralipid only might not enough to clam down the active high NK cells. It is usually added with steroids and I think it is very important. I had 4 cycles with 7 transfers of 11 embryos are all failed. I had my son in my 8th transfer with full NK cells treatment (Intralipid + steroids + hydroxychloroquine).

Sorry I didn't mention but they've already planned other medication to go with the infusions. I'll add what they have planned so it may help others get an idea:

Prednisolone steroids

Aspirin, changing to Clexane

Intralipid infusion

Lubion and Oestrogen during 2WW

I second the hydroxichloroquine too, Intralipids and steroids work for some, for me they didn’t. I had them for 4 transfers of 7 pgd tested embryos and every transfer was a chemical. My 5th transfer worked with hydroxichloroquine and steroids and I‘m now 34 weeks. I would say to anyone with elevated nk cells to push for it. Good luck💕

Thanks for all the info. We were meant to start next cycle back in July but my husband caught covid so it was cancelled.

I've just started cycle this month, on norethisterone at the moment but I'll be having all the nk cell treatment including the infusion
