Sad update 😒 6.4 weeks - empty sac πŸ’”

Hi ladies,

After 5 transfers and getting my bfp I thought this was the one. Sadly I started to bleed last week brown spotting and yesterday it was confirmed another missed miscarriage.

They saw the sac but no embryo. The cruel thing is I have to keep taking medication and have another scan next Monday just to confirm.

I’m heartbroken beyond belief. My embryos don’t make it past 6 weeks each time. I have had the ERA, I know I have low AMH but I don’t know what to text next?

Should I do the NK cells? Anything else I can look at? It just feels like I will never get my baby x

I feel for you, I can see from your previous recent posts that you were really worried about this happening. It is awful when we're so bloody scared of something because of past experience and then it happens, or something very difficult happens, again. It adds to our trauma and the sense that it will never happen for us - I can truly relate to this feeling. Please take care and be gentle with yourself; confiding in a good friend can sometimes be helpful xx

I’m so so sorry you’re going through this. I agree with the others, give yourself sometime to grieve then have a chat with your consultant about next steps when you feel ready. Infertility is so cruel, please look after yourself xxx

I am so sorry, its so cruel to get such happiness and then have it taken away - only to then have to wait for another week, I know how painful that can be. Sending you a huge hug and thinking of you. I think its a case of chatting to your consultant about whats happened, it can literally just be bad luck, or it could be an egg quality issue or similar, but now isn't the time to think about that, its time to grieve and look after yourself. Hugs xx

So sorry for you, take care and l grieve your loss.

This also happened to me last September. I was finely pregnant and thought this is it!

On the 7 weeks scan everything was wrong, the embryo way too small and the heartbeat too slow. Had to wait a week for the next scan and at my birthday they discovered the heartbeat was gone. The world came crushing down.

Got pregnant on my next FET and spotted for 3 weeks and at the 7 weeks scan there was nothing there.

I am again pregnant on my last ever ICSI cycle (can’t believe it) and I am soooo scared for my 7 weeks scan next week.

I am now on double progesterone and HCG trigger shots injections also after transfer (to boost progesterone)

And I am taking for the first time Lexaxine to lower my TSH levels

and 10 mg of prednisolon

and HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE 400mg

Hoping this will do the trick or maybe it’s just bad quality, hard to know.

But maybe you can check your TSH levels and ask for some extra support medicine after transfer.

I really hope you get your happy ending πŸ’«

I am really sorry πŸ₯Ί you are not alone please remember thatI would say if you haven't tried steroids please do so. I had 3 chemicals in the past, 1 was with normal PGS tested embryo. On our last try I was on steroids and we been successful.

Take care of yourself ❀️

Sorry about this. I've been there myself. They told me that chemicals and blighted ovum are caused by chromosomal issues. Not much you can do about it when trying naturally but with IVF, you can try to test the embryos. I also had low AMH and was over 40 but was able to find a good egg in the end. Make sure sperm has no issues and also check your Thyroid level. Good luck.

So sorry to read this update πŸ’” Take some time to heal and look after yourself. Ask your consultant what they suggest your next steps be. On my fourth go, I included NK testing (taking steroids) and I felt that is what helped me get and stay pregnant.

Sending you a big hug xxx

How long did you have to take the steroids?

XOXO13 profile image
XOXO13β€’ in reply toSkp77

I started them early, I think during my stim process and continued with the oral medication until I was 13 weeks pregnant, and had a few intrapilids until I was 20 weeks pregnant xx

I'm so so sorry to hear this. It's so incredibly heartbreaking. I've been there with an empty sac before and I so hope it turns around for you but I also know how cruel that wait is. πŸ’”

It's not always chromosomal (mine was tested and was "normal") but can be. So you could look into testing your embryos going forward. But I think NK cells sounds like a good route. I was on steroids for transfer #5 (we didn't do the testing but there were other indicators it was the right thing to try and my clinic were happy to) - there were lots of other things I did but I do think it had an impact.

Thinking of you x

Thank you, I will definitely ask. Do you mind me asking what other indicators there were? Xx

Good idea. As Cinderella says below, you could ask to try prednisolone without going through the pricey testing process. Some clinics are happy to give it a go and the pills themselves are v low cost! I had repeated implantation failure, a blighted ovum, and a family history of autoimmune diseases (as close as my mother and my brother). All added up to it being worth trying.

Just for reference I was on 20mg prednisolone starting 5 days before transfer (maybe?) and weaned off at 10ish weeks.

Hi Catlady, I'm so very sorry for another loss for you, it's so crap. You might be interested in some of the info Dr Carolyn Ledowsky has on her website. She does some webinar on recurrent loss so some of it might resonate with you. Look after yourself now for the next while xx

Awww sweetheart, I'm so sorry to read this.πŸ˜ͺ The only things I can think of is upping your progesterone which helped me and asking if you could try steriod cover like prednisolone instead of the testing....its so expensive and the treatment is the same. Massive hugs.xxx

I'm so sorry but don't give up. I have very low amh and I had 3 canceled egg retrieval cause I had only 3 follicles. Only made it to 1 egg to freeze and never made it to fertilize cause I got pregnant naturally. Now with a 10 month old and again 5 month pregnant despite me being a very very bad candidate for ivf. It can happen to you too!!

I had a blighted ovum as well before and I have been there, it's so heartbreaking.

Sending you lots of peace and hope πŸ’ž
