I’m doing a bit of research on Letrozole and was hoping someone with experience could tell me a bit about it. I’ve heard that private gynaecologists can prescribe it rather than just fertility clinics, anyone know if that’s correct? How does it work? How much does it cost? Did it work for you??
Clomid was an absolute disaster for me and I’m not allowed to take it anymore (side effects) and my IVF clinic have announced 6-9 month delays due to ‘procedural’ problems they’re having. They haven’t actually contacted me yet but if this is the case for us too, we’re pretty much out of the game so I’m exploring other options 🥺🙈 xx

Hello👋 I’ve had both clomid and letrozole. Clomid had a lot of side effects for me whereas I didn’t have any with letrozole, not even the bloating and pains around ovulation. Out of 15 cycles on clomid it worked 3 times for me. And out of 6 cycles on letrozole I ovulated 4 times.
I had 2 chemical pregancies after taking each drug(4in total) and most recently just miscarried twins at 10 weeks following letrozole. I had follicle scanning and I only released one egg though. I never had more than one follicle mature so they never overstimulated my ovaries. But I would say letrozole has been more successful for me.
The letrozole felt a lot kinder on me mentally and physically. I had it prescribed by fertility clinic. You take it on the same days you would with clomid usually, day 2-6 for me. It just cost the regular prescription amount, just over £9 where I am.
As for who can prescribe it I wouldn’t know unfortunately 🤷♀️
Thanks so much for your reply - that’s really helpful.
And I’m really sorry for your loss, we lost our baby from our last transfer just before Christmas and it’s just awful. I hope you’re doing as ok as you can be xx
Hi! yes letrozole has less side effects. it also is much better on your linning, which is a big problem with clomid. clomid worked for me, but my private clinic won't use it. I'm on letrezole now 🤞 hope it works out for you x
