Hi all, does anyone know if you can still do IVF with the NHS after a failed attempt with a private clinic?
NHS IVF : Hi all, does anyone know if... - Fertility Network UK
NHS IVF
Hi 8465. You should be able to, but check with your CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) for their criteria. Good luck! Diane
I did 2 private cycles, and when NHS contacted me (10 months after my referral, based in London) i was told based on my CCG standards i was no longer eligible. Each area has its own, you can find it online though!
Most clinics deduct any private rounds from your NHS entitlement- so if you would have got one on the NHS you wouldn’t get any, but if they offered 3 rounds and you did 1 private then you’d be eligible for 2
We weren’t eligible for NHS treatment if we had already gone private - Northern Lincolnshire and Google CCG. But I suspect others may have different rules
It all depends on your CCG, type into Google NHS Fertility Funding and your area and it should tell you. You can also email them and enquire. I had one private round of IUI uncessful in my area and my CCG allows you to have 2 IVF cycles with or without ICSI or 6 IUI attempts on the NHS but you can do many private cycles as you like but I think if you already have a child they won't allow you to have NHS funding.
I'm awaiting to start my IVF cycle just waiting on blood tests which needed to be done in the next month. Does take little time to get the ball rolling I was first refered in October 2021 and just have my blood to do as mentioned once these are done and reviewed they will refer into a IVF clinic and they then apply to the CCG for funding once this is approved I can start so I'm hoping February 👍
