Hello, My husband had sperm morphology of 1 percent before we started our journey, and we were advised to have ICSI (IVF) over IUI as you need good shaped sperm to penetrate the egg. Xx
With IUI you only have 3-5% more chance compared to trying naturally, this with good quality sperm. I would go straight into IVF/ICSI x
We were told to do IUI, but when you read about and considering my husban's sperm quantity and quality, we thought it was a waist of time.In your shoes I will be going for IVF/ICSI.
Good luck🤞
Hi Madeline. Before we had our IVF consultation I researched about every procedure as was completely new to all this. I went with the mind set, clinic will do whatever we pay for. So I thought I definitely wanted IUI , one or few cycles. Easy peasy I thought. They refused point blank, said our only option is ICSI. That was the most expensive one and I thought they wanted to rip us off. But once they explained everything it kinda made sense (even though I still wanted IUI) We went for ICSI at the end, with the Access Fertility package ot 3 cycles and if no baby at the end, they return money.
As you know the sperm limitation, it's one step ahead. Although some may even get pregnant naturally with the lowest of sperm quality but it's harder. 3 friends used Chinese treatment to improve the sperm statistics. If you are struggling with funds for icsi you could consult with a good Chinese medicine practitioner who specialises in fertility to help with male fertility factors. It does work. Even if you are progressing to IVF/ icsi a better sperm often result in better embryos .
Good nutrition especially those targeted at reducing oxidative stress is always helpful.
I hope it works out.
