Hi everyone, I have egg collection scheduled for Monday but have woken up this morning feeling so unwell 😞 I’m so bloated and my body just feels heavy (breasts and legs) and I’m exhausted. When I went to the clinic on Friday the nurse said I was showing signs of OHSS and and so said I would be having a frozen cycle. My question is really should I be worried or is this normal? I’m panicking in case they cancel Monday….thanks I’m advance 💕

Hi lovely, If you are due to have egg collection on Monday I am guessing you have already done your trigger shot? If that's the case I don't think they would cancel. Did the nurse say how many follicles she could see when you had your scan on Friday? I would have thought if she was concerned they would have told you not to go ahead with the trigger shot. I think what the nurse means is that they will do the egg collection, but they will freeze any embryos until your OHSS symptoms subside. This would mean instead of doing a fresh transfer they would wait a few months and then do a frozen transfer. The rationale behind that is that your body will be more recovered. Plus, if you went ahead with a fresh transfer and it worked the HCG from your pregnancy would make your OHSS worse.Try not to worry, they will do whatever they think is best for you.

I hope that helps and good luck for your egg collection tomorrow x

Thank you so much for your reply, it’s definitely helped! 🤩 The nurse said I had around 20 follicles and changed my trigger from Ovatrelle to Buserlin. I’ve felt very nauseous today but looking forward to getting tomorrow all done, one step closer 🤞xx

Heya. Agree with previous poster, if they changed your trigger then they won’t cancel (they would have said so already). I had this too in my first cycle, buserelin and a freeze-all cycle , then they told me to wait 2 bleeds (2 cycles) for my body to calm down before doing the frozen transfer. I was super upset at the time, but it absolutely was the right thing to do as OHSS can really be horrible.

Try and drink as much as you can, water but also full fat milk and electrolyte drinks (like coconut water). And eat protein and rest….

Good luck for your collection 💪🤞 x
