When do people usually start progesterone supplements for a medicated FET? i.e. do you always start in the evening and then transfer in the morning 5 days later or do some people start in the morning? This is without an ERA and for a 5 day blast.
I had a scan yesterday for my upcoming FET and the nurse indicated that I'd likely start progesterone on Wednesday evening for transfer on Monday. I didn't hear back until earlier this evening and instead of confirming all is well, I need to head in for another scan on Thursday first thing. My lining wasn't amazing (thickest 7.3mm and 6.8mm on average) but 7.3mm is actually my best measurement. Argh.
I can see online that they have booked in a transfer appointment for 2pm on Monday but they haven't actually told me about timings.
So, of course, I'm freaking out about being called back in for another scan but I'm also wondering when people usually start progesterone before their transfer. I've only ever started in the evening then have transfer 5 days later in the morning so I'm wondering if my FET could still be Monday (if it's in the afternoon). Or am I being pushed to Tuesday at the earliest.
I wouldn't care too much but I'm also trying to schedule my acupuncture appointments for transfer and, of course, the clinic hasn't responded.

I was recommended to start progesterone at night for consistency purposes (i.e., doing it everyday around the same time and nighttime is usually the most convenient time for most people). I had my transfers around noon, so it's been fine day-wise.
Hi there, to help with the lining what worked for me was L Arginine 6grams, Vit E 600mg and acupuncture. I got to 11.5 mm. You may still be able to make it thicker before the transfer.
For the progesterone just make sure they give you the basic 120 hours coverage that is what most people need with no ERA. I didn't know about that and I had 2 failed transfers where they were giving me 104-112 hours only, on top of transferring the embies when my progesterone was only 6 nmol and the minimum ideally is 50 nmol!!
11.5mm! That's amazing, congrats. I have vit E and L Arginine on the go already, as well as my regular acupuncture. I'm interested to see where it gets to on Thursday but also terrified 😔 A long walk tomorrow is probably key on many levels.
Good tip about 120 hours, thanks for that. That will be handy even for just figuring out what time to start the first pessary or jab (I never get given exact timings hah). Luckily they always test my progesterone at transfer and it's been fine - but I'm so sorry they transferred at 6 nmol for you!
Sounds like you are doing everything already! Acupuncture twice a week is important, it literally boosted my lining from 8.5 to 10.1 then 11.5mm. Best of luck hon xx
That's interesting I took my first pessary on the 25th at 11pm and transfer was on the 29th at 3pm? I think iv calculated it to be under the 111hours! And they want me to go for and era test yet I doubt they gave me enough time in the first place. Plus they dont think its worth checking lining again or even my progesterone level! So frustrating
I have definitely never had 120 hours before and timing has been more like yours in the past, Summertime. I did get a BFP last round but it ended in a MMC. I don't think that's the progesterone window's fault, though, as it really hung in there and my levels were good... But who knows.
I'm really sorry they wouldn't check your lining or progesterone level though!? That's super frustrating for you, especially if you are now going for an ERA. I also wish the clinics were a bit clearer on things like this but hopefully the test helps give you some answers if you go for it.
Well at least they thought of doing an ERA! My old clinic wanted to continue with the same over and over, thank God I changed! You can ask to check the lining before transfer as well as the progesterone. They may not do it as a routine but can do it for your peace of mind. Xx
Hi Jols, that is amazing your lining reached 11.5mm. I am planning my FET soon. Can I ask you how long did you take vitamin E and L Argunine to get this results? What brand vitamin E and L Arginine did you use? Also could you recommend the accupunture you used and how long you had Accupunture? I am have two blastocyst from my last egg collection and I want to make sure everything is ok before FET.
Hi there! I followed the advice on 'It starts with the egg' so I took the Vit E and L Arginine for a month before the transfer. I bought any brand so long the strength was correct. I had acupuncture once a week from before stimming. They used electro acupuncture up to the transfer, then after transfer normal acupuncture avoiding the belly. Good luck with your journey I wish you all the best!! Xx
Hi👋🏻 My clinic told me to start in the morning and take pessaries every 12 hours for 5 days. I asked for Lubion for this cycle too and I could take it at any time but just needed to be consistent. I pushed for a progesterone test on day of transfer which came back within good limits but made me realise it probably wasn’t high enough on my previous two transfers. Also my lining was 7.3mm at my scan and got a BFP on day 9. Have some pomegranate juice and Brazil nuts, there is time yet! Good luck xx
Congratulations on your BFP, that's lovely news! That's interesting to know that your clinic said to start with pessaries in the morning - I don't enjoy morning injections so that'd suit me just fine. If you started in the morning was your transfer then on the 6th day? E.g. if you started Monday morning you would transfer Saturday morning after 5 full days of progesterone and another morning pessary?
I'd love for my average to hit 7mm so maybe that's what they are waiting for even though it's 7.3mm already at its max point. So stressful. But it's nice to hear that you got a positive test at 7.3mm ❤️
You know what I forgot this time... The darn Brazil nuts 😂 there's a new packet in the drawer but for some reason I was convinced they were for post transfer. I'll have some tomorrow along with my pomegranate and my beetroot juice. Xx
My clinic also asked me to start in the morning 5 days before transfer. I take four pessaries a day, two in the morning and two in the evening. My transfers are always just after lunch time.
Five full days and then transfer was on the 6th day. So I transferred on 5.5 days worth of cyclogest on board. I always take my cyclogest at 7am and 7pm (ish).
Regarding progesterone, I have started at different times, I had Era done so they just needed to time it according to my implantation window.I just wanted to tell you that you should not worry about your lining, the size is good! It will increase when you start progesterone xx Good luck and don’t worry!
