I’m at a point where my gym membership is about to lapse. I’d fallen out of habit with it the last few weeks (work being chaos) and I’ll be honest I’ve missed it. I haven’t been advised not to exercise and I’m on my feet most of the day so I’m not exactly inactive. However, I'm due to start my gonal f injections in the next few days and I’ve seen mixed information out there. I was just wondering how other people felt as they got into the process. Was exercise comfortable or just a no no?
Obviously I’ll talk to my nurse to check it’s ok but I’m looking more for how individuals have felt about going. Not if it’s medically ok for me. I’m not looking at jumping on the treadmill and doing a marathon but a light workout that helps keep my head in the right place. I have to sign up for a minimum of 3 months so don’t want to do it if I find I’m just not going to be able to use it because I’m uncomfortable or if it feels too much.

This is kind of an impossible question I am afraid, as you don't know how you will respond to the drugs so don't know who uncomfortable you are going to be! Do you know if you are doing a fresh transfer or freezing any embryos?
I have always continued to gym and horse ride throughout stimming, but was told to take it more gently towards the end so no weights or eg. rowing machine. You have to stop pretty much everything except walking (or at least are supposed to) once you have had embryo transfer. (obviously up to you but I decided we had invested so much in IVF why risk it).
So say you are stimming for 2 weeks, then going to fresh transfer the reality is you probably have 2 weeks of gym membership and then a pause post collection and during your 2 week wait (which is in total nearly 3 weeks) where you couldn't gym... so you would immediately lose a month of your 3 months. Maybe you would be better waiting?
Having said that though if you are going and using the treadmill for your walking you could keep going!
I know what you mean about needing it/missing it though. It does suck! You can't even swim which was another negative for me. Good luck for your round xx
Thank you for this. Hadn’t thought to factor in down time which makes sense.
The plan is fresh transfer but there was a fold/ possible polyp on my lining at my base scan. They weren’t worried but suggested freezing might be an option depending on what the next scan shows.
I’ll wait to sign up. There’s no discount/ benefits to me rolling it straight over so this way I can wait and see how I feel. Thank you.
