Hi all, I'm back ahead of my 4th transfer. 2 unsuccessful, 1 ending in MMC after 9 weeks (Heartbeat seen, all going well, other than bleeding). I have also had one previous natural miscarriage.
I have been found to have insulin resistance following a blood test and have been prescribed Metformin. I have PCOS although I believed this was mild until this diagnosis so feeling a bit confused. I have also done a course of antibiotics this month to help ensure there is a good balance of bacteria in my uterus (Treatment for alice test - without the test)
Does anyone have info or experience of Metformin during IVF? I am really hoping that this is the final piece of this horrible puzzle!!
Thanks xx

I have PCOS as well and been prescribed Metformin long before starting IVF. And I should take Metformin until my 12 week of pregnancy, it prevents miscarriages. Having PCOS makes it a high risk of miscarriage to happen, that's what they told me.
Are you taking myo-inositol in addition to the metformin? I don't have PCOS but my doctor suspects I have some insulin resistance so so she recommended starting myo-inositol and instituting some changes to my carb intake (she had me eliminate or significantly cut 'fast' carbs like bread, white rice, white potatoes, sweets and sugared drinks). The myo-inositol increases insulin sensitivity and also helps improve egg quality, so it's definitely worth taking if you have PCOS and insulin resistance. It's totally safe to take with metformin as well.
Hi 👋🏻 I take two metformin a day (prescribed three but it can be rough on the tummy) and my cycle has improved. I take inositol and have overhauled my diet- very few carbs and if I do it’s sourdough bread, brown rice, sweet potato. Tara Spencer has good PCOS cookbooks available. Recently read that PCOSers also have lower progesterone levels so if your clinic don’t test for this, really push for it. Ive added Lubion this time.
This is my first transfer with metformin and along with the other changes, I’m very hopeful 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
