We’ve just had our first ivf cycle and we are just waiting for next Friday to come to test to see if any signs of pregnancy. I am already convinced it hasn’t worked cause no symptoms (sorry I know that sounds negative) but with a previous child and miscarriages you know your body. Anyway, my question is about implantation, 4/5 days after transfer day I had horrendous pain (early contractions/serve period type pains) and thought it would due to all the poking over the last week, but I’m actually thinking it was the embryos trying to implant. Pre ivf I would get similar pain during ovulation but didn’t really think it would have the same now (naive probably). I really feel my issue of trying to get pregnant is implantation and I’ve said this previously to medical staff and fallen on deaf ears. Has anyone else experienced this type of issue or any recommendation of how I can help them implant? All my results about lining are normal and I’m on pesseries. Many thanks

Implantation question / issue?
Hi Sdegirl. There are so many myths about implantation and bleeds etc. However, my thoughts are that the teeny tiney embryos are not going to cause any issues at this time, they just get on with it, if all is well. The pains etc are often due to progesterone, which will hopefully ease off as your body takes over making it for itself. Your ovaries might still be a bit active, so be carful not to get constipated as poo passing by sore ovaries can be sore. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Fingers crossed all is going as it should. Diane
I had the exact pains 5 days after transfer the pains were so bad u was taking paracetamol every 4 hours and it must have been implantation as im now 8 weeks pregnant with twin's! So it sounds promising to me. Good luck ❤
Thank you. I really hope it is positive news. I had 2 embryos transfers in at “good” quality so hopefully at least one has worked. After such a journey I just hope there is a positive at end, although not out of woods. I have to test on Friday will see, but like many other you over analyse things I.e. no symptoms of pregnancy and think the pain is my body rejecting.
I had two fresh transfers and I was convinced with each I could 'feel' where they had implanted quite early as it was very specific - like ovulation pain and kind of pinching or biting. I got BFPs from 5dpt. Sadly they ended around 5/6 weeks. For my first FET, I had sudden intense cramps at 2dpt - so bad they woke me in the early hours (and my husband, as I made such a fuss) - like bad period pains. They only lasted max half an hour and because of that and for certain other reasons, I thought it was all over so I tested the following day (not sure why) and got a BFP. Will be 11 weeks this week and it's been so much stronger than the other two from the start. I didn't get any other symptoms until after OTD. So don't give up. Only other thing is maybe see if your progesterone levels are ok and if it's worth trying a different form and application route of progesterone - that seems to have made the difference this time for me. Was also on aspirin and extra folate for this one. Could all have been chance or unrelated (including the cramps) but I always feel ovulation and having had endometriosis and difficult periods for years, I know the cramps and pains my body can produce and these were different. I guess it could have been from all the hormones and I assume at or not long after implantation a lot of changes start happening, so maybe it was that.
Wishing you all the best for good news on test day! 🍀
Hi there. I’ve spoken to women who have had no cramps or bleeds when implantation happens. I had 9 transfers over 6 ivf cycles before it worked. Each one was different… some no symptoms… some cramps and twinges. The time I had a brief positive (chemical) and the time it worked, in both cases 3-5 days after a blastocyst transfer I had sharp pains and brief bleeding. It was this that initially made me test early to just get the negative over with, but it was both of these times I got a positive.
Saying that many get no signs. I do have adenomyosis as well as Endo so I’ve always wondered whether that has anything to do with the strong difference I had when I eventually got a positive due to abnormalities in my uterine lining etc. Wishing you all the luck in the world xx
PS my consultant suspected implantation issues since we produced good quality blastocysts. In the end I had steroids and humira (immune suppressant) along side down regulation (prostap) xx
