Hi there. Yes i was diagnosed with endometriosis in January this year, but along with that I also has blocked tubes. They ended up doing surgery but only due to blocked tubes to improve IVF outcome. Mine was stage 1, and my understanding was they wouldn’t have done surgery for endometriosis alone unless it would be a higher grade. I wish you all the best of luck for your next tests. Btw. For me they suspected via ultrasound but I was asked to do an irm scan to get it confirmed.
Even after laparoscopy found stage 4 endometriosis my left tube stayed blocked and I had 4cm endometrioma cyst my left ovary going into ivf cycle. The only concern consultants had was that they may burst the cyst during egg retrieval. They managed to successfully get 13 eggs between both, 6 fertilised and I am now 12 weeks pregnant with twins after a double transfer. Even though I'm sure it effected my chances of conceiving naturally I wouldnt worry about it in regards to ivf. Best of luck
Sadly, I know way more than I ever wanted to about endometriosis. Did the nurse tell you where she saw the endo lesions (ovaries or somewhere else?). Definitely request an mri scan to confirm, as ultrasound is really not the best way to get a definitive diagnosis for endometriosis. Unfortunately, endo is a complex condition that impacts everyone differently, and there are actually multiple types - ovarian, deep infiltrating and superficial. Typical treatments are laparoscopic surgery, medication (such as lupron), or do nothing and take your chances. Endometriosis is thought to cause an inflammatory environment and possibly have a detrimental effect on egg quality.
If your doctors choose not to treat with surgery or medication, you might consider some common remedies used in the endo community such as an anti-inflammatory diet (gluten and dairy free) and supplements such as N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and R-Lipoic Acid. CoQ10 is good for egg quality, and steroids can be helpful to decrease inflammation/immune response for FET.
I had stage 2 endo removed in 2018. I took all the supplements I mentioned and ate a reduced gluten and dairy diet (pizza is my weakness). I believe my endo has somewhat returned and may have been a factor in my 1st FET w/ PGS normal embryo ending in a chemical. I added steroids (prednisone) for my 2nd FET, and am currently 9 weeks pregnant.
Don’t despair! Endo sounds scary, and tbh it does kinda suck, but it doesn’t mean you can’t be successful. Wishing you the best of luck!
Thank you for replying, yes the nurse seen it on my left ovary and in my womb too was so disappointed 😢.Next Tuesday can’t come quick enough I’ve got so many questions I need to ask.Congratulations on your pregnancy
Hi yes this happened to me during my start of ivf , it wasn’t until after I’d had the 14 days of injections for down regulation at my baseline scan that they discovered a large mass . I was referred for laparoscopic surgery because they weren’t certain what it was at first then it was discovered to be a large endometrioma ( cyst coming off my ovary ) & diagnosed my endometriosis
Following that I went straight back into ivf treatment, other cysts were present at the time of both cycles
I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant following 2nd ivf attempt
Have had no issues arising from endo during the pregnancy so far
It sounds scary when you first hear them say you may have endometriosis when you had no idea , but regarding ivf there are many success stories
Best of luck with the next steps for your treatment x
