Thyroid

In the last few years I have had multiple blood tests done and 1 month before I started talking to the reproductive unit the results were 2.3, but when they did the tests the result was 6. I was sent to the endocrinologist who repeated the tests and it came back 4.3 so I was put on medication and now it is at 2.3. I have asked everyone what could be the reason for these changes and no one can tell me what could be the reason. I am glad it has gone down but I would like to understand what is causing this.

Has anyone gone through something like this? Did they give you any possible reasons?

Thanks

I've also had a few issues with my thyroid, mine has fluctuated over the past year and I'm not sure why. Both my mum and dad have issues with their thyriod so I guess I inherited it.

I first had my thryoid test last year and my levels were around 2.7, I had them re-tested and they went upto 3.7 (I'm not sure why)

My clinic prescribed levothyroxine they then went down to 1.6. Are you also taking this?

Most clinics recommend anything below 2.5 before trying to conceive so you should be fine 😊x

so far they have given the green light in relation with the Thyroid issue, but a bit concern on not able to understand what causes the fluctuations. I am taking eutirox 50 once a day. the endocrinologist told me that in case on pregnancy I will have to increase the medication... but I see that very far down the line .

Sounds like you have been able to keep it under control. Did you feel any different while you were having it higher or lower? Just wonder if there are any symptoms I can detect in case it increases....

thanks!xx

Aww that's fab news. I guess as long as it stays under 2.5 your completely fine. Just keep getting it tested to be on the safe side and have a test just before your next transfer to make sure it hasn't gone up 😊

It is odd why thyriod levels fluctuate they gave me no explanation why mine did either. Do you have any family history of it ?

To be honest, I felt no different with my thryoid being any higher or lower.. I wouldn't have ever known if it did increase or decreased without getting it tested

Thank you so much lovely. I never actually thought I'd see a positive test in my life. I was convinced it wouldn't ever happen for me. Still early days but hopefully things will progress from here 🤞xx

No cases in my family...so no idea the reason. The only thing I've got recommend is to make sure that I use iodized salt.

I am sure we are all going to end up happy in this journey, unfortunately we are having to work a bit harder. I know plenty of sad stories that they end up having a happy endings....so I think it makes it easier for me to think ok ....this is a small bump on the road but it will happen.

Your story shows that you are a clear example of this and it is fantastic that you share it with all of us. 😍

Mine fluctuates quite often as well, and I have it regularly tested every 6 weeks or so. Before my first transfer, it had creeped up to 5.6 so my thyroxine dose was increased to 50mg daily and that bought my levels down to 1.6. It then rose slightly to 2.63 but was quickly lowered again on its own a few weeks later. Before this transfer, my levels had risen again to over 3 so my thyroxine was increased to 75mg and it was rechecked the other day following my BFP and it had increased to over 7.11 and so my thyroxine dose has been increased to 100mg a day.

My T4 to begin with was low but being on thyroxine has steadied that. High TSH/low T4 is linked to fatigue and low moods. When mine is super high, I do feel more lethargic which then has a knock on effect on things like my digestion. For now though, it’s under control 🤞🏻

I’ve been given no reason for the fluctuations either, just one of those things. I know it’s natural for your TSH to rise in pregnancy so it’s important it’s checked with a BFP. My endocrinologist wants to do a full thyroid screening again in three weeks time for example xx

Wowww thanks for sharing. Hopefully it stops fluctuating.

I will pay attention to those symptoms in case they appear to speak with the doctor.

The only tip i've got from my doctor was the ionized salt. Did they give you any tip?

hiya, a year ago mine fluctuated wildly, from 22 to 2, the endocrinologist said this can occur if you get a viral infection, it can cause thyroiditis which is temporary and causes the crazy fluctuations for a few months. She did say that sometimes your thyroid settles down naturally without the use of levothyroxin, but because i wanted to get pregnant we agreed to put me on the levothyroxin to keep my levels stable. Most fertility clinics definately prefer a really stable thyroid even if you can only get that with some drugs

I had the same problem, in fact they suspended the IVF process for that. I went to a nutritionist and put myself on a gluten-free and soy-free diet and my thyroid levels improved considerably.
