Today was my first ever transfer - a 5AA that thawed well and was hatching. Went well but I was bursting for a wee so a little uncomfortable. I was advised to lay down for 10mins after then get changed and wait another 10 before peeing but I couldn't wait that long was also told to only half empty my bladder which I found strange.. I did stop but no idea if it was half way!
A random question but if you had a large dog that sometimes pulls on the lead, would you walk it after transfer?? I am suprised just how much I am questioning things already now the embryo is actually on board!

Just do everything as normal! Women get pregnant in war zones or after one night stands when they’re drunk and dancing the night away. Nothing will influence things other than being normal and healthy. Maybe don’t go sky diving though 😉
Haha I would have been the first to say this too, but once that embryo was in I started questioning everything! It’s strange, I think I’m doing it so I don’t try and blame myself if it doesn’t work, not easy to be rational in this game. Thank you x
I’ve been there! It’s sends you a bit mad all of this 🤪. Some of the things I’ve googled and worried about 🤦♀️. Just do all the things you love, within reason, so you’re happy & as stress free (😱) as you can be xx
I had my transfer today and emptied my bladder when they told me I could get up (after ten minutes). Never heard of anyone being told to half empty their bladder so try not to worry 🤞🏻
I’ve also been told not to do strenuous exercise and I asked about yoga (as I wouldn’t class that as strenuous) and she said avoid any stretching and just walk. So I’ll just do that!
I always think if you’ll question whether or not you should be doing something, then maybe be a little more gentle walking the dog or ask someone else to for a couple of days?
JenRoy is right that women get pregnant in war zones, and lots of women carry on with normal life without realising their pregnant but I do understand why in this situation it’s hard not to question everything - I do!
But I also believe the clinic when they say there really isn’t much we can do now the embaby is in… just have to pray and hope it stays around 🍀🍀
Oh hey transfer twin, did it go smoothly? I wanted to just relax but felt so uncomfortable and kept having to move and jiggle anyway lol. Up until the transfer I was pretty rational and had plans of taking it easy but still doing normal stuff - I’ve even given out the same advice but as soon as I saw it happening on the screen I’ve questioned everything and it’s only day 1! It’s a bit surreal.
I was planning on doing yoga too as I usually do, but I’ve since questioned that so I probably won’t! Will stick with walking, the reason I asked about the dog is my husband is recovering from a hip operation right now so he can’t ( bad timing I know) I just avoided other dogs and it was ok.
Thanks so much for your message, sometimes you just need someone to say it’s ok to feel the way you do! Best of luck to you too. Xx
It’s so normal to question everything, I literally do it all of the time!! I was actually surprised about the yoga as I also usually do it but figured it’s just a couple of weeks so I’ll get by and just take myself on some scenic walks.
Hope your hubby is okay! Sounds like you both need to put your feet up with a binge Netflix series!
Hi lovely I haven’t heard of waiting 10 mins then half emptying bladder etc. I was bursting too that as soon as I was dressed I practically ran to the toilet 😂 and fully emptied it! That transfer worked. Wishing you all the best for yours xxx
After my transfer I was allowed to get up straight away. In fact, at my clinic you get up and walk from transfer room back to recovery. I also could go to the toilet straight away 😇 And we had a successful transfer - so I would not worry. Perhaps they advised to just let some go initially - as if you bladder is really really full, you can feel dizzy/lightheaded emptying it all in one go - so don’t think it was cause of the transfer 😇🥰
I was advised to avoid strenuous exercise and baths, but to keep moving, so walking was fine. The nurse did tell me before I left - it is out of your hands now - nothing I could do, other than let time and nature do it’s thing. But she was obviously experienced from other people in the past and also said if I was questioning if I should be doing it or not, then don’t she said - so you can’t blame yourself, even if it won’t be your fault.
Just wanted to wish you all the best!! Got everything crossed for you and hoping for success! 🥰
Aw congratulations that gives me hope. In the back of my mind I know what I do is unlikely to effect things but I suppose I’m just trying to minimise blaming myself if it doesn’t work! Thank you xx
The half-emptying of the bladder is actually not recommended as it can cause cystitis, which is very painful and all the more in pregnancy! Going for a pee after transfer is fine as your bladder and where they put your embryo are not interconnected. It’s perfectly normal to ask oneself hundreds of questions but just revel in the fact you have a beautiful embaby on board and a hatching one too! All great signs. Best of luck x
Really, I actually felt a little like I had cystitis last night! It seems to have gone so perhaps was just irritated from the ordeal! I am going to make an effort today to imagine the little embryo nesting in and growing, instead of worrying about every little thing. Thank you xx
Don’t worry about your bladder….I didn‘t even make it to the transfer, as my bladder was bursting🙊 , so they told me to pee on a plastic cup and should stop when full…guess what, by the time the cup was full, my bladder was empty🤷🏻♀️. They still were able to do the transfer and the Embryo stuck 😍You can go ahead with your everyday routine, just avoid 🏋️♂️ and a hot tub.
I ran straight from the treatment room to the toilet for a wee, got dressed, went for another wee. Came home and as I opened the front door my toddler ran at me and head butted my tummy.
Hello, so odd they told you not to move and to half empty your bladder. My consultant toldMe to just get on with life as normal after my transfer. It didn’t stick though 😞. Hoping it’s all going well for you!!!
Just replied on your post lol, I didn’t find anything on google about bladder thing either, very odd! It’s getting a bit tough now not to test, even though I know it’s too early.. I have been quite crampy so I’m not sure how to feel about that. So sorry it didn’t stick. I feel like I might get the same outcome but keeping hope too x
