Success after 2 failed rounds?

I’ve had 2 rounds of IVF. Round 1 got 6 eggs, 5 fertilised...2 made it to day 5, both 3CC, both transferred, BFN. Round 2 got 5 eggs, all fertilised...1 made it to day 5, 3BC transferred, BFN. So no frozen embryos after 2 rounds and looking at starting again with a new clinic.

I’m so scared about going for round 3! I know I’m lucky to have had embryos to transfer with each round, but I’m worried the embryos do not continue to develop and that the same will happen again.

Has anyone has success with lower quality embryos? Has anyone had good quality embryos after 2 or more rounds of average-lower quality embryos?

Thanks,

Xxx

Hi Turquoise, I think that the grading of embabies is a bit subjective! Please remember that heaps of people fall pregnant without knowing the grading of their embryo or get pregnant on their last try with their worst quality embryo. It only takes one! Biggest hugs...I know how horrible this journey is and I know that fear! I get it, and it's not fair. But it really does only take one embryo and it doesn't need to be the highest grade to work! 🤗

For example, I had three fully expanded AA no fragmentation embabies transferred, the first was a chemical pregnancy and the other two were BFN. So, I'm a story of NO success with picture perfect looking embryos. My FS was shocked and put it down to bad luck and a numbers game for us. Just what we wanted to hear obviously...🙄 The biggest cause of them not implanting was highly likely chromosomal problems which meant that we were going to PGS test all our embryos from the next cycle if we had more than one to transfer.

There is a great book "It starts with the egg" that can give you advice on diet and supps to improve egg quality before you go for another EC. 😊 I confess that I think upping hubby and my COQ10 intake to almost quadruple what we took the first cycle is what helped us get a natural BFP while waiting for our second EC to be able to start! I wasn't eating very well (lots of comfort food) but I was religiously taking ALL my vitamins and supplements in preparation for egg collection and I seriously upped my vitamin D and COQ10 while making a point to drink more milk.

So please take heart! There are things you can try which may help with egg quality and it certainly helps to feel like you have some control and are doing something! 🤗 Biggest hugs and best wishes! Xx

Hey thanks for sharing your story. I’ve just read the book and have my review next week with clinic. Was wondering when you said milk what type and for how long also coq10 joe much did you take I was going to wait on speaking to clinic first then start my 3 months on sep supps and already started eating like a med diet xx

Thank you for sharing! I’ve read the book and I’m taking 200mg of coq10 a day, plus all the other supps, I also have yoghurt everyday and a green smoothie most days. Partner is taking the men’s supplements plus coq10 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 I’m so happy to hear you had success naturally!! I’m so hopeful that I will fall naturally before we go again as the whole ivf process is so difficult. I’ve really struggled after failing round 2 and feel so apprehensive about round 3 xxxx

I had poor quality embryos in my first 2 rounds - total of 28 eggs and less than 30% fertilised- PGS tested a couple and neither normal. Had 3 transfers.I then changed to natural modified IVF- focussing on a mod fewer follicles - over 2 cycles I got 9 eggs 100% fertilised and 4 top quality blastocysts- transferred 2 and had twins and have 2 more frozen

I know it’s disheartening after 2 cycles - I’d have a chat with your clinic about whether there is anything different you could try? X

Thank you for sharing this!! It’s good to hear some success stories as I’ve been feeling quite hopeless. We have an unexplained diagnosis and it’s so frustrating not knowing what we could do the change it. My clinic has suggested a blood test to see if clotting is an issue and perhaps a hysteroscopy, but said that might not be very useful and it’s super expensive! Xx
