We are waiting to be booked in for the standard TESE surgical sperm retrieval after being told there is a 12 month wait for the micro TESE retrieval. Although the micro TESE maybe the best option, they’re going to try the standard one first. Does anybody know how long it takes to be booked in? It’s been such a long journey. We were supposed to start IVF in Feb last year but was unable to because they couldn’t find motile sperm to freeze (0% motility).
Just wondering whether anyone has been able to retrieve sperm from the TESE with 0% motility?
Thank you xx

Hi lovey, I unfortunately can't answer your question but curious if you're going through the NHS or if you're with Dr Ramsay in London (or another private urologist)? xx
Hi are those NHS timescales? I spoke to a clinic in London and they could do any SSR with around a month wait. Their prices were extortionate but I'm guessing if they can do it in those timescales so can other places.
We are in Scotland and will find out what type of SSR my husband needs next week so don't know about timescales here yet. We will probably have it done privately to save time but it can be expensive depending on the procedure required.
Hope you find out soon, waiting is the worst - especially when you don't know how long the wait is going to be!! Xx
We did ours privately and there was no wait (Scotland)They attempted PESA and TESE in the same procedure so there was no no additional delay between the procedures.
We had our consultation where it was confirmed that my OH had obstructive azoospermia in August 2019. His surgery took place in Feb 2020. Luckily we got in there before covid or it would have been even more delayed. This was with the NHS so in my experience the wait was 6 months but of course every hospital/clinic waiting list is different so hope you guys get a date asap
