Do you think a multicycle package through a private clinic is worth it?

I saw on a thread I can't mention clinics which is ridiculous but doesn't anyone have any insight to whether multicycle packages are worth it? I know its super expensive but could save you lots in the long run? Also are they good for those with low AMH?

Yes I really think they are! They are heavily discounted and include all frozen transfers! I also have low amh so you have to remember that you get less chances per cycle so you quickly move onto the next round. It also gives you peace of mind that if it fails you don’t have the added worry of paying out again! I used it for both pregnancies, I’m now 19 weeks pregnant with my 2nd xxx

Not all multicycle include frozen. Mine is 3 fresh but no frozen-have to pay extra although they discount the fees xx

Did you go through access? As both my multi cycles included frozen with them xx

No, mine is direct with the clinic themselves. I have heard access include frozen, it was more just an FYI that multi doesn't always include it so something to consider xx

The clinic I'm with offers unlimited frozen transfers till a live birth is achieved.x

Hi Avo-cuddle,

I didn’t go for the multicycle payment option, was rather naive at the start of our fertility treatment and thought it had to work first time! I have been though 2 ICSI treatments in Belfast over lockdown and both failed, and had no embryos to freeze. My AMH levels are 5.5 and considered very low for my age.

I think you have to be a candidate for the multi cycle option, would check with your clinic that it is available for you and if so, definitely sit down with your partner and discuss it all out.

All the best for your treatment x

Definitely recommend multi cycles for piece of mind! My clinic also refunds the difference if you get pregnant before using all the rounds so it made complete sense to me. 3 rounds were £10k plus my drugs for each round (about £2k/ round as my AMH is low). After my first and only NHS round failed I decided to stay with the same clinic and pay privately for a 3 cycle package. I have low AMH and felt like the 3 cycles gave me some level of reassurance that I could do 3 cycles and freeze embryos and then hopefully have a few decent ones to transfer hoping that one would eventually stick! My first round of the package didn't go very well and I only had one egg fertilise normally. On day 3 they said it was average quality and they weren't sure if it would make it to day 5 to freeze so I asked if i could have a 3 day fresh transfer (couldn't handle going through the whole round with nothing to freeze). My hopes were very low but it somehow worked (after my good qualilty embryo didn't stick on my NHS round). Currently 15 weeks. Just wanted to share some hope with low AMH! xx

Yes I think it’s worth it especially with low AMH I wish I’d signed Up to a package first rather than spending loads of Money on 2 individual cycles ( - I then did a 3 cycle package). If I had known then what I do now I’d have signed up to the 6 cycle package of natural modified IVF

If you are with the well known clinic which specialises in low AMH .......then I’d do the package as you’ll likely only get 1-2 blastocysts per collection and at least at the end of it the embryologist team can choose from the best of the bunch rather than just putting back what you had each time

I think multi- cycle packages are the way to go for people with lower chances eg over 40s, lower AMH and poor responders.

I am 43 almost 44 and doing a multi cycle package of embryo banking. Like most people, I did not know this was an option when I first started this journey.

They are heavily discounted and some clinics offer you a refund if you get pregnant after the first cycle.

IVF can offer some curve balls ie cancelled cycles, low number of eggs collected, low fertilisation, no embryos etc; so knowing you can have another go can help manage those disappointments!

All the best 🙏🏾

I think they’re great. I did a multi cycle first time - we ended up with a freeze all, two frozen and then another fresh before we got our BFP - so it would have been £14K if we paid for each frozen/ivf, but the multi cycle was only £6500 (all this is without meds cause they’re never included). We’re now trying for a sibling and have just paid for a multi cycle again. If you end up pregnant after the first round then yes, you will have over paid - but then you’re just so happy you don’t care! x
