Lower HCG

Hi, this is my first time posting 😊 my husband and I did a round of ovulation induction in December but sadly lost the pregnancy in February (our 4th loss). We just did another round and on Thursday at 15dpo had our beta bloods. HCG came back at 63.2 however the clinic like to see 70 and above at this stage. They said anything can happen but to be honest made me feel like it was already over.

I have to go back for repeat bloods on Monday. My numbers weren’t too far off what the clinic wanted but I suppose I’m feeling a little deflated and thinking the worst.

Has anyone ever had slightly lower HCG and went on to have a healthy pregnancy?

Xx

Technically anything over 5 is pregnant, although I know they prefer over 25 (although I don’t know what day this would be on) so congratulations!

You’re not far off their ‘preferred’ number of 70, which I imagine could be down to the time of implantation. A few hours could make up the difference perhaps?

I just put in 63 @ 15dpo and then 126 48 hours later and the numbers came back as rising normally - bang on average in fact, so can you get another set of bloods done and then use one of the online hcg calculators to check the numbers are rising as they should be? That’s the only way to really tell.

Good luck, stay positive. Keeping everything crossed for you xx

Thank you. I think I’m more concerned that the clinic have sort of written it off. The nurse I spoke to made me feel like it was already over and that I had been added to the list for the consultants to discuss on Tuesday even though I haven’t had my second blood draw yet.I get the second draw tomorrow so I’ve just got to hope that it does what it needs to, I’ve been worrying all weekend which isn’t good for anyone.

I have 2 children so I know my body can do it but for some reason since my youngest was born in 2018 I’ve suffered so many losses, we thought fertility treatment would help us but not sure it has 😔 I keep telling myself if I hadn’t had treatment I wouldn’t know what my levels were and I would be blissfully unaware just thinking I was pregnant x

So my HCG today came back at 187. It’s risen and has a doubling time of around 61 hours which is in line with being ‘appropriate’ as my clinic like 60% increase within 48 hours and for it to have doubled in 72 hours.I’m still really worried though that this isn’t enough and that my HCG is still low for 19dpo.

I’ve had an ectopic pregnancy in the past and that’s all I can this of right now x

In case anyone comes across this in the future, I hate when there’s been no conclusion. I got the call on Thursday to advise my HCG has begun dropping so unfortunately it’s another loss x
