My clinic recommended a biopsy to investigate the failure of IVF plus we also have a male factor issue (spermatid sperm).
They can run a day3 biopsy and if it came back normal we would transfer fresh embryos, abut it would not give all needed information.
Day5 will give all information but there is a riks of not reaching the blastocyst. Plus a frozen transfer will be done the next cycle if it came back normal.
The issue is the round ended in only 2 fertilised embryos (4 eggs collected only 2 mature) so it’s a risk of loosing what we have done so far but on the other hand we would know if the cause of the failure is a genatic problem.
So anyone done this before? Please help!!!
Need to take the decision by the morning.
Our doctor and embryologist think they are doing fine so far and they don’t want to risk the 2 crystals. Maybe in the future if we have more embryos to pick from we will do it
Transfer is tomorrow fingers crossed 🤞❤️
Wish me luck

To be honest the “pros” of a day 3 biopsy are more about convenience and being able to do a fresh transfer than having any scientific benefit therefore I wouldn’t do it.
The HFEA has stated in the past that day 3 PGS wasn’t shown to have made any difference to success rates
Personally with only 2 embryos I wouldn’t test and would just transfer them (I PGS tested 2 blastocysts and neither came back normal - I decided not to test again and transferred my only 2 on my collection and had healthy twins)
So, not to be devil's advocate here, but I wouldn't get a biopsy done at all. I had pgt-a testing on my two last summer and they both came back abnormal. I was devastated and honestly I just felt like giving up, I told my partner I didn't want to do another round of ivf- felt like what's the point, all my eggs are duds... 2 months later, I got pregnant naturally and am now 26 weeks in.
Point is, even if these two come back with genetics issues, doesn't mean the next two will, or the two after that. All sperm are different, all eggs different. It's just hard to get the right combination , plus every other factor to be right too. The risk is, you get told these two have problems and you convince yourself that that's it, there's no hope- but I'm proof there is hope and I'd hate you to feel like I felt last summer.
Sorry its not helping with your decision tomorrow, I'm just anti-testing because I know how misleading a single result can be, and how it can send you down a path of sadness and hopelessness. Good luck making your decision, it's a tricky one x
Testing Day 3 damages the embryos, my clinic does not do day 3 biopsies. I gave up testing because my last three all tested abnormal. The research shows the test is questionable and I wouldn't risk not be able to transfer my embryos. I personally know 2 people who had healthy babies from abnormals
