It’s difficult isn’t it, I had the same problems... try looking at your diet overall - are you getting enough water? Are you eating lots of veg that will also cause wind? Think broccoli is usually a suspect... gentle exercise (walking, swimming) xx
Hi lovely, I was the same I couldn’t stand the mess they made so I tried the other side and although it was much better my stomach would cramp and then ii would have to run to the loo about 30 after putting it in. I am still taking the pessaries but the symptoms seemed to have eased but I was like that for a good 2 weeks maybe more. 6 week scan showed everything was good, sorry I don’t have anything that eased it but wanted to reassure you from my experience that it didn’t cause harm during those weeks xxx
Thank you so much, I was so tempted to book a 6 week scan, but I’ll trying to wait until the end of next week as il be 7 weeks then. I think once I have the scan I won’t stress as much with the little pains.... I hope 🤞🏻 xx
I started taking lactulose in the morning, which is safe in pregnancy and also found some Peppermint digestion tablets which were safe for pregnancy in my local pharmacy. After both of these I was much better. I totally struggled too, your poo will not be the same until you are off them! When I was first on them I was in such discomfort I wouldn’t be able to bend over because I felt like I was going to go bang! I am 9 weeks now and have about a week or so left of them and I can’t wait for them to be finished. Then the worry of not taking them will start of course! 🤣
Omg I can imagine the worry when stopping them 🙈🙈 ye they said 10-12 weeks. I think once I’ve had my first scan I will settle a little. Il have a look into the digestion tablets too👍🏼 xx
I find a high fibre diet helps. The meds we take slow our system down causing constipation- more wind etc. So a diet of brown rice, brown pasta, lots of fruit and veg is both good for you but also helps keep you regular. You may find some foods make you more windy so cut those out. I’ve felt lots better this round than previous ones by making changes to my diet. Hope you get some relief x
Thank you, yes maybe that’s why it’s worse at night as it’s a build up from what I’ve eaten in the day. Just feel really bloated, I’m not moaning though as I know I’m so lucky to be in this position xx
Your body with the pregnancy hormones will also be making changes to your digestive system alongside the pessaries as it slows everything down, my advice would be to switch the them vaginally, yes it’s a bit messy but if you put one in when you get up and then lie back down for 20mins and then get up again for your shower it’s much easier and at night do similar. I was on 3 a day up to 12 weeks and I couldn’t wait to be off them! The diet advice already given is great as I’m afraid the bloating and wind can continue in pregnancy without the pessaries as it’s one of nature’s gifts to us 😂🙈 Best of luck with your pregnancy 🤗 xx
Oh how lovely lol, I’m not complaining as I know I’m so lucky.... I’m hoping the scan will settle me a little better. Vaginally I kept feeling wet & would think the worse so changed back.... finger crossed I stop stressing once I have my early scan 😊 xx
Unfortunately wind is one of those symptoms that you get from the pessaries and there's no getting away from it. I always think the bloating gets worse in the evening too so that may be why you're feeling worse then too. Your natural progesterone production will be starting to kick in soon too.🙄 Peppermint is a good one to try!xx
Fingers crossed, hopefully when I get my private early scan next week i Will feel more settled with the little pains, I know it’s wind related as mainly at night but I just stress.... when you’ve waited so long now all we do is stress everything is ok🙈 xx
It's so hard not to stress over every single little twinge hun....then the twinges settle and you stress because they're not there anymore! Honestly its never ending but what you are feeling is completely normal so know that!! Good luck with the scan next wk, look forward to your news.🤗xx
Thank you, I don’t want to feel like I’m moaning in anyway as feel so lucky to be in this position. Had my midwife appointment yesterday, & going to defiantly book my scan for next week I can’t hold out any longer lol hope u & the twins are doing well? x
Dont feel like you're moaning, I see it as more looking for help and reassurance which is what we are all here for! I'm doing ok thank you, few more wks to go!!🤞🏻xxx
Hi Gemz29, I had same issues but my clinic had warned me that I could have constipation from the pessaries. So I was not as worried, though the cramps and bloating after taking the evening pessaries was bad. As soon as I stopped on the 12week mark (as instructed), my stomach was back to normal. Wish you good luck!!!
Pessaries are horrible. Had an upset stomach, wind and bloating. I alternated front and back. Back in the morning and front at night. That seemed to help a bit. When I hit my 12 weeks and came off them I literally lost my 'baby bump'. I know its so horrible (more than the injections in some ways) but you'll forget about it soon enough. Congratulations on your BFP xx
Hopefully you have a healthy and boring journey from here on out. Xx
