Invitation for the vaccine

Hello lovely ladies,

Happy International Women’s Day to you all, what an incredible and strong group you are 😘🥰

I was just wondering if anyone who is pregnant is having or going to have the vaccine? I have been invited for mine, I think it is because I am a carer for my mother who lives with us and has Alzheimer’s

I am not very sure about having the vaccine as I don’t want to do anything to mess with things. I am currently 8 weeks (yay 😍) after our failed FET in November, this is our last chance as there are no more Frosties or money left!

Just wondering what anyone else is thinking about the vaccine and having it done when pregnant?

Hello and congrats!! 😊

I’m not pregnant at the moment , but have been wondering as well what I’d do if I do manage to get pregnant (🤞) and get invited to get the vaccine. To be honest I don’t know, but I think on balance I might get the vaccine - maybe wait till 12 weeks, though? If everything opens up again and loads of people are vaccinated and therefore being less careful I’d feel quite vulnerable I think not being vaccinated if levels of the virus are still significant around us, and getting Covid while pregnant I think is scarier than getting the vaccine....

also, someone on here posted this the other day which I thought is helpful!

Hello McQueeny 👋🏽

Thank you for your reply. Wishing you lots of luck and sending all my spare baby dust to you

Yes I think I will wait until I have another scan next week and ask for advice then. I will call the doctors in the meantime and let them know the situation.

I couldn’t see the link you popped down, was it to an article or something?

Thank you again xx

Thank you! Ah that’s a shame, the link is to a document published by Victoria Male at imperial college, she’s a reproductive immunologist - if you Google her you’ll probably find what she says, she’s effectively explaining that there’s no reason to believe the vaccine poses any danger to either pregnancy or fertility. x

Hi I’m not pregnant but congratulations! My fertility unit had 2 consultants online who said there’s no evidence and no warnings not to have it, to consider individually but probably don’t have the vaccine in first trimester just incase.

They said from tests of women undergoing fertility treatment, Covid was not passed to eggs so wasn’t dangerous.

I have had my first vaccine before treatment, if I’m pregnant for my second I won’t have it in first trimester

Thank you 🙏🏽

Wishing you all the luck with your treatment and cycle. Sending the baby dust your way 🤞🏽

Thank you yes I think it is safe to wait and get some advice but certainly don’t want to take any risks now especially as we are still in lockdown for the time being and I am not going anywhere anyway

Thank you xx

Yes exactly, my consultant said if you work in dangerous setting (intensive care etc) have the vaccine and delay your treatment. But if u are healthy and not at severe risk or high risk group, then avoid the vaccine in first trimester until there is more evidence.

Hope u have a wonderful pregnancy x

Hi dear, happy international woman’s day. I’m 19 weeks and a few days pregnant and I have been invited but I’m not planing to book my vaccination before my baby is born. Also I don’t know why I’ve been invited I called the center and they didn’t know and didn’t have access to medical record.. so it could be randomly.

I understand that many woman are getting their jabs while pregnant but my argument is no baby has been born yet after the Mum had this jab, also no pregnant woman was in the trial.

My husband had his last week as he is about to start a treatment so he needed to be cover..

I’m also not seeing anyone apart from my husband and if I have to I’ll keep it that way till my baby is born.

Best of luck xx

I've answered this on someone else's post too, but from what I know.. (I'm a nurse in the NHS) we were advised that if pregnant OR planning a pregnancy to postpone having the vaccine. My clinic also said I could have the vaccine whilst not pregnant but I would have to postpone treatment for a minimum of 3 months.

On the other hand, I do know other people (friend, not colleagues) who have decided to have the vaccine and they are pregnant.

As far as I am aware, there is no evidence of it harming you or your unborn baby, however there is also no evidence that it could.

I chose not to have it because of the nature of our situation but I do think it is your choice.

Good luck with everything 😘

Hi Noodle,

Im 41 and this is my first baby & first attempt at IVF, so feel very blessed and lucky to get this far. We’ve made the decision that I’m not going to jepordise this for anything, it’s cost us too much and I’ve waited years to be a mammy.

I don’t think there will have been enough testing on pregnant women and the effects on an unborn baby so it’s a no till the baby arrives mid July.

Whatever you do I’m sure it’ll be the right decision for you though.

Take care x

I have been invited and am just checking if they know I am pregnant (I don't have time to go there and be sent away...) but I will definitely have it if I can. Numbers will go up with reopening, I see especially the older vaccinated population not keeping distance already and I cannot hide at home for the next 3 months (and have my family do that with me). They don't have finished the trials with pregnant people yet but a few got pregnant in the trials and it did not cause problems, they have the data from Israel now and they vaccinate pregnant people in the US without problems. There is evidence that antibodies are passing through to the baby, so I figured it would be safer for them too. It really depends. If one is very isolated anyways, maybe you can wait. If you are more likely to get the virus or suffer badly from it (hello last trimester and other health conditions or high risk job) it is probably safer to get it. I would not do it while stimming because fever is not good for the eggs and maybe I would wait until the second trimester. In the first more can go wrong and people try to find reasons why and blame themselves, even if it is really mostly down to the embryo and not down to their actions. Good luck with everything! Oh and congratulations of course!

Update: Midwife said no. Just people in high risk jobs (healthcare etc) or carers will be vaccinated when pregnant following current government advice.

I would say stop getting advice about the vaccine on here and talk to your doctor. A lot of the advice is based only on the individuals feelings etc and views. Some of it is quite persuasive but not based on facts your doctor especially a fertility consultant if you have one is the person to talk to.
