Second round of IVF

Hello ladies

So after a fresh transfer which resulted in BFN and a frozen transfer which resulted in BFP but sadly ended in a miscarriage. I had no embroyos left in the freezer either. I lost all hope and courage to even consider another round. So here we are again and we have decided to do another round of IVF.

The nurse did a refresher session with us yesterday and she asked if I wanted to do a fresh transfer or frozen and honestly I have no idea what’s the best thing to do. We have gone private for all

Our fertility treatment and spent a lot already I know IVF is not guranteed and luck plays a big part in it all.

I just feel with the first fresh transfer which was a 3 day transfer resulted in BFN on test day and the frozen transfer was a 5 day blastocyst which resulted in a BFP but ended in a miscarriage. It seems like the 5 day frozen blastocyst got us a bit further to our dream. I also found the frozen transfer process easier as in less invasive etc and my lining was very good etc.

I am very confused at what to do as if I have my egg collection this time then it will be a freeze all and then I try following cycle preparing the lining for it etc.

I guess it all depends on egg collection day and how many eggs they get and how many fertilise. But just wanted to know from any of you ladies here what is the things to do.

Any advice would be appreciated thank you

Hi Simz143. I think your going to get really mixed reviews of what to do because there will be people that have had success both with fresh and frozen. My clinic prefer to do fresh as they say it's a higher success rate than a frozen....I recently had a MC from a frozen transfer so I'm keen to do fresh transfer if I can. As my lb was a fresh transfer. My consultant also said the mc rate was slightly higher with frozen....this is just their stats....it's not necessarily across the board. However I've had two friends that have had babies with frozen transfers. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'd go with your clinics advise. I guess it depends on how egg collection goes and how your feeling as to whether to do a fresh transfer too. On my first round it was all very new and scary.... I did fresh transfer however I was in a lot of pain still from e/c and quite emotionally traumatised...it resulted in BFN. Second round was fresh again but I was much more prepared and emotionally stable BFP-little boy. 3rd round was frozen resulted in BFP-ended in MC. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Go with your gut I think. Xxx

Hi Simz. You have already been though a lot and I hope you’ve had plenty of support during the negative times. My thoughts are that if you still have a good egg reserve, perhaps have another fresh go, then use your stored embryos if it fails, or for a sibling later. See what your specialist advises, and I wish you every success. Diane
