Hello, i had an IFV cycle through NHS and we were incredibly blessed to have worked out on the first time.
I’m now starting to look in to a FET transfer as we still have 3 frozen embies. This would be private and the clinic sent a list of lots of test I should do prior and I wonder if anyone knows if I could speak to my GP and get at least the tests through them. This frozen cycle would cost around £3.5k if I do everything with them and the quality of the frosties aren’t as good so I might need multiple transfers which will be hard to afford.

Depends on the tests? Highly unlikely that a GP would do the tests for you? Most clinics don’t need loads of tests done anyway? Plus you’d wait for ages anyway due to the waiting lists. £3.5k for a FET is expensive though - mine at a private clinic were around £1.5k per transfer
Thanks for your reply! It’s really expensive isn’t it? But that’s the clinic that has my embryos. It was through NHS but is private. It’s on Harley Street so you can imagine the kind of prices they have 🤦🏻♀️
Hey lovely, even for Harley Street this is extortionate! The clinic I used for my FET is on Wimpole Street ( the next street to Harley) and it was £1.6k xxx
Hi, I’m in the same position as you, I had a treatment at an NHS hospital although my first round of IVF on the NHS wasn’t successful I stayed with them for my second IVF treatment and paid privately as they do both as the treatment I received the first time although didn’t work they were amazing and thankfully worked second time round, I’ve spoken to them about a FET and they have booked me in for a pelvic scan no cost just to check my womb etc as I’ve had a baby since the last treatment and unfortunately had to have an emergency caesarean and then the FET will cost me £1,200, 3.5k does sound a lot could you transfer your frosties to another clinic? It may be worth checking with your GP to see if the tests could be done on NHS is there a reason they have said you will need the tests if your last treatment was successful or is it just there policy?
Hi Dreamama. You could try asking your GP for his/her opinion. £3.5k seems a high price to me. Could you look on the HFEA website and find somewhere cheaper? Worth a look. Diane
Thanks everyone. I haven’t considered transferring the embryos to another clinic but I will def look in to it.
They sent a list of tests and prices but said they can only confirm what’s needed once I have a consultation but they recommend most of them because it will be nearly 2 years ago since I’ve done them all.
Here is what they sent:
CRG1 (HIV, Hep B, Hep B Core & Antigen, Hep C Antigen)
Chlamydia Urine
3D SIS (includes cervical swab or HVS)
Thyroid Profile 1 or 2
Dummy Embryo Transfer
Blood Tests
Frozen Embryo Transfer HFEA Fee
On top of the £3.5k (that’s the total if I did all the tests above) there’s a medicated option which is another £900 on medication!
