So... hands up who else just got a letter to say their nhs turn is delayed due to covid and the waiting list is now 19 months .πŸ€―πŸ˜–πŸ˜£πŸ˜πŸ˜’πŸ₯ΊπŸ˜©

( our turn was due in May after being on waiting list for a year 😩)

Fast forward to this week snd another letter comes to say .... add four more weeks on to that!

😱

I get the covid thing.

I’ve one more FET and my two private cycles will be over .

My hope is small πŸ˜”

Does anyone know if you can still have nhs if you do more than two private cycles?

I’m almost 40.... and seriously .... ivf at 42.... my heart died reading the letters 😣☹️😩😩😩😩😩

Literally feel like robbing a bank to pay fir more private cycles .

I can’t wait 20 months age 39.5...

What would you do?

😣

Love and hugs to all of my frustrated Ivf sisters.

This journey gets harder by the minute.

O hun. 19months from now??? When it was meant to be this may? If you can just about scrape the funds together hun I would crack on if u can? I know I couldn't wait that long...but patience isn't my forte.

This next FET could be the one hun. Don't give up hope yet! Its crunching numbers and it's a roulette. There's no rules to this IVF business.

Wishing u all the best. Xxx

This really sucks. Im sure everyone know how hard it is to wait a few cycles let alone 19 months! I would just to be sure inform what that means though. You read sometimes that ccgs dont fund over 40 etc so that might be something to bump u up the list? Also can you not talk to your gp and ask your funds to be transferred to a clnic that isnt that busy. I asked this and it would mean your back at the end of the list but private clinics move faster? Just thinking out loud lovely xxx al the best

😀😣🀬😑😠🀯 NHS is just a pile of frustrations and waiting time! I understand perfectly what you feel right now as I also asked my GP to refer me for a Hysteroscopy and waiting list is 49 weeks. I arranged now to have it done on a private clinic in London that will cost me 700 pounds instead of waiting for almost a year. I prefer to pay, even if I am not a lottery winner to afford all the tests but I have no choice. If I was you I would have moved straightaway to a private clinic. I regret wasting almost 5 years with them thinking that I am young.

Good luck, I am sure you will take the best decision ❀️πŸ’ͺπŸ€—

Oh love, I'm so sorry you've had this set back after everything else 😘 I'm not sure re funding for NHS if you've had private treatment too, I'm in Bristol and I never read anything in the CCG IVF criteria that said you wouldn't be eligible if you had private treatment, but I know this is the case in some areas, so maybe just go through it in minute detail. But in the meantime focus on the FET, hopefully this will be the one ❀️ thinking of you xxx

Hi πŸ‘‹ hope you are as well as you can be given the circumstances ❀️ ivf is so expensive and it’s unfair we are made to wait so long on nhs.

Have you not considered going private and using a clinic who do a pay back monthly policy? I know the clinic I did my ivf with had this option.?

Maybe you could do something like this that’s if it fits in with your finances xxx

My god!! 19 months! I think for now concentrate on your FET, do your absolute best to give yourself better chance and I know it’s hard to have hopes after you have your heart broken but no one knows maybe this time it’s your time, also you never know things can change and after vaccination they might speed up.

I’m thinking of you xx

If you are entitled to 3 NHS rounds but have 3 private ones first you’ll most won’t likely be eligible for any NHSA Treatment. You’d also need to check their age cut off. Most say IVF has to be started on the NHS by either age 36, 40 or If you are lucky 42 so may miss the deadline

Yes, I got the lovely letter on Christmas Eve. So annoyed so I put it away in a drawer. Happy Christmas and all that, not!

Waiting on getting 2 cycles of ICSI privately so going to deal with that first. Then yes I also got the letter to say they have closed so that’s 20 months of a wait which I wonder will it end up being more the way COVID is going. Which I do think it will be.

So deflating this! If you can try to get money to go privately again do. Don’t waste your life waiting for 20 plus months if you can. Don’t give in to waiting list times. Cry as much as you need to, go through the emotions your body needs you to go through, give yourself time and be KIND to yourself. Then pick yourself up when your ready and come up with a plan. Even borrow money from family, take a loan out and save for the rest. It’s bound to end up quicker than waiting around to be called by the NHS.

Once you have your plan try to put thinking about the NHS away for now and look after yourself. There is a phone number for counselling services on the last letter. You could try them. Every little helps! Do everything you can for this next FET. Who knows this could be the one. So if you can forget about everything else and focus on this FET ☺️ I know it’s easier said than done. I think we are all being tested right now. So is the NHS unfortunately πŸ˜”

I honestly wish you all the best and no it’s not easy but your happiness will happen for you. It has to. YOU CAN DO THIS. YOU HAVE FOUGHT THIS FARπŸ˜ŠπŸ’—

Good luck xxx

This really sucks (understatement). This is a ridiculously long wait. To me, fertility is health care (and very time-dependent) and should continue (like all other health care should continue). We're prioritising all the wrong things with this covid business. Can you change clinics? Is that a possibility? If you can go private; do. Check your CCG guidelines to see how many private rounds you can do before being ineligible for NHS funding, but you could...... just always forget to tell them if you've done one too many? It doesn't really make any difference what order you're doing them in! I wish I had not been so specific about how long we'd been trying as they wouldn't even consider us for funding until we'd been consistently trying for 2 years (despite all the many years we'd been together and didn't fall pregnant). Thinking of you, RhinoCat. xxxxx

The dr at our private clinic came close to saying .... it doesn’t matter about private rounds .... as we don’t have to tell

Great, yeah.... maybe just forget to mention it then ;) ;) Sorry you are having to wait so long. The wait (privately) with my clinic was one of the worst things for me. So make sure if you do continue privately you don't have the same situation! xxx

Yeah, they said it might be a couple of months and was like ... WHAT?????.... then the dr said .... hopefully sooner . πŸ™πŸ» they emailed a couple of days ago to say they agreed out FET at the meeting and that we would hear soon but there might be a slight delay due to covid . So hopefully not too crazy πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ» how are you ?

This is awful. I'm so sorry. I don't really have any advice or suggestions but just wanted to say that is awful and I'm so sorry for you. I would definitely get in touch and ask if your age changes things. Surely they are aware of how time sensitive IVF can be. You have come through so much this past year and I'm so sorry this is another blow. Sending love xx

They said it didn’t change anything . They were going off list . Mess

Are you sure the letter means YOU have to wait another 20 months? It might be that the total wait time is 19-20 months (they hardly have time and money to write separate letters for each person on the waiting list stating exact time so often send out general letters), but as you were about to start last May it might be something like 3 months once clinics open (March when it closed down-May when you were supposes down to have your appointment).

If it really is another 20 months I’d attempt to go private. But I have no idea how that will affect NHS funding.

RhinoCat profile image
RhinoCat in reply to Sandyels

It means that! Means another 19 months from now! I’ve already waited Two years and four months on nhs waiting list

Sandyels profile image
Sandyels in reply to RhinoCat

Jiis, that is insane. I’d go privately unless that would completely ruin me.

I’ve already paid for two private cycles and if my last FET doesn’t work I’ll need more πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Hi i was in a similar situation. You can ask to transfer your CCG funding to a private provider that accepts NHS funding and would have shorter wait times. Private clinics not attached to a hospital would also help reduce any further COVID related delays.

No , I can’t in NI 😣

Oh hun. I’m so so sorry to hear this. IVF patients have suffered so much because of this pandemic and it’s heartbreaking. Like you say, things just don’t seem to feel like they ever let up. I’m 42 and about to have my third transfer if that makes you feel any better at all??! Sending you loads of love xx

Hopefully πŸ™πŸ» they agreed our treatment at their weekly meeting . Just need consent and drug appointment then we are good to go πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ» said there would be a slight delay due to covid ( I predict 4 weeks as they are supporting the nhs) then hopefully good to go. Time to get back to running and bring good snd taking stupid folic etc as I’d stopped the whole lot before Christmas . When is yours ?

Your lucky to be accepted on the NHS, I’m also 39 1/2 and went to the NHS at 35 and was told because of the postcode lottery my partner and I are not entitled to any free rounds as had to be under 35. We have no choice but to keep saving and going privately, managed to do 2 rounds so far and saving up again now for a 3rd πŸ˜”. Wishing you the best of luck x

RhinoCat profile image
RhinoCat in reply to JAT101

Well considering I’ve had to pay for two private rounds and then probably two more.... me being on a waiting list is no better than being told I’m not entitled. The whole thing needs fixed πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ
