Hey lovely, I know how scary this is sending you love ❤️ phone the clinic as soon as they open it doesn’t always mean miscarriage as there are lots of other causes of early bleeding in pregnancy too (as you might remember mines was a subchorionic hematoma). It’s a bit early for a scan but the clinic should be able to do repeat HCG for an indication of what’s going on and then from there, depending on results, they might do an early scan next week. They might also want to increase your progesterone. Thinking of you xxx
I totally understand the worry but I found there are soooooo many stories of bleeding in early pregnancy, especially in ones through IVF, where it turned out okay as well. Rest up mrs, thinking of you xx
Hey lovely, I had a few episodes like this that settled down. It scared the shit out of me. Like you I also didnt have pain. When I did lose a pregnancy I had cramps which just got more and more painful. Hoping it's just a little implantation bleeding escaping. Rest up and feet up.🤞🏻🙏🏻xxx
Thanks so much for your reply Cindy. That reassures me a little (although sorry you had such a scare too) I just spoke to my clinic. They said I should come off clexane injections for at least a week and they will call me on Monday to book in my viability scan (I haven’t been given a date for this yet). He said over 50% of IVF pregnancies have bleeding in early weeks. I just have to hope it settles down I guess and this lil one sticks around. Sooo worried though 😭 xxx
It's horrible isnt it?! Yes, coming off blood thinners always seems to be the first port of call. Bleeding is common as I'm sure you've seen yourself on here but christ it doesnt make you feel much better! Your hCG was really good at day 13.....mine was 968 at that point so it may well be you have 2 in there creating havoc which also doesnt help the bleeding. Hang on in there, hugs.....hope those feet are up!xxx
Thanks Cindy! OMG it’s terrifying seeing blood in pregnancy. It seems to have stopped now (I hope that lasts 🤞🏻🙏🏻) Twins would be wonderful, but at this point one healthy baby would be a dream come true! Xxx
Hi Peanut! I’m so sorry you’re so scared ❤️Sending lots of love and light to you ✨✨✨Also, my clinic says that bleeding in an IVF pregnancy could also be a result of hormonal imbalance (estrogen and progesterone). It could mean that you ‘burnt’ the medication too quickly, maybe you moved more than usual and your metabolism has accelerated.
The reason why your clinic has told you to stop the Clexane is so that it doesn’t break the estrogen and the blood is less fluid so the bleeding is likely to reduce or stop.
My clinic has told me that if I should experience bleeding which on panties/toilet paper is more than 1cm big I should immediately do bed rest, getting up only to go to the toilet (so means eating in bed).
Thanks for this Tough Cookie! Did they say how long you should do bed rest for? Did they mean 1cm clot or 1cm on the paper when you wipe? I haven’t had clots but definitely more than 1cm on paper. I’m resting now. It seems to have stopped. Scared to move incase it starts up again! Xxx
Bed rest until it stops- and yes either more than 1cm clot or on paper when you wipe. Yes keep resting! 💪🏻🤞🏻I don’t know if you do progesterone shots but my clinic has asked me to do an extra shot in case of bleeding...I wouldn’t do it without your clinics approval but maybe you can ask them? Not sure they’ll reply to you until Monday though...don’t you have a weekend number you can call? Xxx
Thanks lovely. I called them this morning and they said to come off clexane injections, no sex, pessaries in the back (which I do anyway) and to call again if bleeding gets heavier. They didn’t mention bed rest though so I was interested to hear what your clinic says xx
Oh darling I’m so sorry to see this, I can imagine how worried you are.
I would say it’s a big positive that you’re not in any pain, when I lost mine the cramps that came with the bleeding were unbearable so hopefully it’s just something innocent causing it. It’s super common in IVF pregnancies in particular. Try and rest, sending lots of positives energy your way xxxx
I would call the clinic urgently and speak to them. They might call you in for a emergency scan to make sure everything is okay as this happened to me too.
Thank you. Called them and they said to come off the clexane injections I was on and to let them know if the bleeding gets heavier. It seems to have stopped now (I really hope that lasts! 🤞🏻🙏🏻) Did it work out ok for you? Xx
I’m glad to hear that.. hopefully everything will work out for you.
Yes I kept have on and off bleeding even till 12 weeks and I kept having emergency scans. Each time the baby was fine but naturally I was so afraid. Everything has worked out fine and I am 27 weeks pregnant now thanks to God.
Hi lovely, it's so scary seeing blood, I had it at 6 weeks and it lasted on and off for a week. They tool my hcg over a couple of days to make sure it was going in the right direction as they said it was too early for a scan, and it was fine. Hopefully its just a sign that things are settling in. Try and not worry to much lovely although it's very hard not to. Hopefully they will get you in for a scan soon and it will reassure you xxx
Thanks so much for your message Italy. It’s reassured me a lot. Sorry to hear you also had a scare, it’s just so scary isn’t it. Have you had your scan? Hope everything was going great if you did xxx
I've also had a bit of brown spotting today and I'm 8+2, it is all so worrying. Waiting for the viability scan on Monday. I'm sure everything will be just great for you lovely xx
Hello, hope all is well with you and the bleeding has stopped. I've had light bleeding since week 6 and will be week 10 on Monday. I freaked out when it happened but have now kind of got used to it being 'normal'. If you have a scan it should show where it is coming from if it persists and whether it is likely to be an issue. In my case I need to wait until the 12 week scan now. I had 2 embryos implanted (one better than the other) and it maybe a case of vanishing twin by that point. Heart beat was strong for the other at 8 weeks. Fingers crossed for you that it's stopped xx
Thanks so much for your reply Orangeflowers. The bleeding has stopped for now (really hope it doesn’t start up again!) I’m sorry to hear of the loss of one of your twins but fingers crossed everything is going well with the other one and that you’ll be reassured at your 12 week scan. We also transfered 2 this time so maybe that has something to do with it? Xxx
I had the same at 5 weeks and stopping the blood thinners resolved the issue. They restarted them for me and it started again, so I believe it was the blood thinners. They ended up taking me off them all together and just leaving me on the aspirin. It’s a scary time, but just stay strong, I had lots of scans with my clinic for reassurance which really helped me feel calmer, during this time. So if you need them just ask them. I’m sure it will all be fine xx
Thank you so much for this. It really helped to reassure me. My scan is booked for 7 weeks at the moment but will push for an earlier one if the bleeding continues. Interesting to know that it could be the blood thinners. How come you were put on them in the first place, if you don’t mind me asking? xxx
How are you doing today Peanut? Xxx ps:blood thinners are standard protocol in IVF....the estrogen we take thickens the blood so we need to thin it to avoid thrombosis xxx ❤️
Hey tough cookie! Thanks for checking in! The bleeding stopped yesterday so I’m relieved, although have the fear every time I go to the bathroom. I wasn’t put on blood thinners for my last pregnancy (mmc) but did the thrombotic risk profile test and something was really borderline so they put me on clexane injections to be safe. My clinic said it’s totally safe but they don’t like to give you anything unless they know you definitely need it. How are you getting on? xxx
They put me on them due to miscarriages I had in the past to assist with implantation. I ended up bleeding from week 5-9....so it was a long road to get here. Hang in there, and defo try push for the scan. It will help you relax x
Hi Peanutchip, I completely relate to your worries, thank you for sharing, it is so helpful to know we are not alone and a little reassuring to hear that bleeding is quite common at this stage of IVF. I am 6 weeks pregnant (i can’t still believe this!), we are due our viability scan on Tuesday and when I went to the toilet early this morning I found some fresh blood on my knickers- the quantity was more than 1cm. I also had spotting throughout week 4 and was prescribed progesterone injections as well as pessaries and that seemed to stop the spotting at the time. I am also on estrogen and steroids because of a high number of nk cells found in my uterus and I was also diagnosed with high levels of anticardiolipin antibodies, hence the eparin to thin my blood. I was hoping to have put some of the worries behind...I am waiting for my clinic to call me back now. When I have asked in the past, my clinic has always discouraged bed rest, claiming that at this stage it is important to maintain good blood circulation and recommending gentle movement instead, nothing crazy. The bleeding seems to have settled for the moment and I don’t have any pain or cramps. I am trying to stay as calm and positive as I can. The sun is shining out there today. Keeping everything crossed for us on this rollecoaster of a journey. Keep strong 💪
Hi Peanutchips it seems to have settled now, although there is still something. The clinic said to wait bow until tomorrow, when our scan is due- they couldn’t book us another one earlier. I was a wreck yesterday but I am feeling slightly better today. How are you getting on?
Hi Peanutchips. Sorry for all the agony you have been through bleeding. Are you ok? I read your BFP post before your concerned bleeding threads. Thinking of you as I know how gut wrenching it is to bleed when you're on a high. X
