Surrogacy round - transfer Tuesday but I’m nervous about ovulation timing

FET ovulation tests advice needed!

So... we decided as a team to still go ahead with our surrogacy transfer this month even after all the trauma we have had. I’m still 100% happy that we are doing the right thing.

However... I’m really nervous about our timing being correct as it’s a natural FET.

Bear with me as it’s long winded to explain - last night at 8pm my surro messaged me that she had a positive on the clearblue smily, which would suggest ovulation today. However the cheap strips she had (which the clinic prefer) were almost totally blank and seemed like a dodgy batch. We did a few tests from the cheap strips and all were very vague lines.

So we decided that she would pop to a 24 hour Asda and buy some more of the basic cheap ovulation tests - the plastic ones that kind of look like a pregnancy test. She used the same urine sample to test and it gave a good line, maybe 75% darkness, so not quite positive.

This morning she retested and got pretty much the full positive this morning on the cheap plastic test - id say it was about 90-95% dark. So she let the clinic know, and they said to class tomorrow as ovulation day, then making a day 5 transfer to land on Tuesday.

I’m really nervous that because the surge started last night, and was strong first thing this morning, ovulation might in fact be today, not tomorrow.

But we can never really know - I’d have preferred that the test last night was just negative and not a solid smily so that we could just feel like today was the surge.

How risky is this timing? Could we be out and therefore throwing away the cycle fee and our second 4BB embryo? The two we have left after this are poorer. Day 6: a 5CB and a 3BB.

I can't speak for the clinic and how they work timing out etc, but the start of your LH surge means you will probably ovulate within the following 48 hours from when it starts. It sounds like the super sensitive Clear Blue kit will have detected the start of the LH rise and the cheapo ones the peak, so if this morning is the peak then tomorrow would be the average 24h between peak and ovulation. xx

I actually cant help with this Orla as I have no experience with natural transfers but just wanted to wish you loads of luck! Im sure the clinic wouldn't risk your embryos so all must be on track. All the best.xx
