New lockdown - what does this mean for fertility clinics?

I assume that fertility clinics are included in within the medical reason exemption. But has anyone had this confirmed from their clinic?

It’s only non essential shops and hospitality x

I am assuming they will stay open unless we get to the point where the staff are needed for the Nightingale hospitals etc 🤞🏻 It doesn’t get that bad for everyone’s sake x

I only know of Nhs clinics in Leeds closing so far but that’s because they need the staff elsewhere As they gave large numbers of people in hospital - I think private clinics will be fine but NHS ones will be affected certainly

Is that the leeds seacroft hospital that will closing? Have you had this confirmed by the staff? I’ve only got just over a week to go before embryo transfer and really dont want it cancelling 🙁

I would try not to worry about this in advance, hopefully they can stay open and keep treatments going. No one knows what is going to happen, but this is something we cannot control or do anything about - other than socially distance/isolate, follow the guidelines and hopefully the rest of the population does too to try get the spread slowed down a little, and by doing that, hopefully the hospitals can cope. I got really worried after a post last week - but then realised worrying might not be good for me and cause unnecessary stress and it is out of my control. Like so much else to do with our fertility journey 😇😉 I am so, so excited to finally get to start my treatment in about 2 weeks time, so will de devastated if it is on hold again. Last notice from Leeds fertility is before the announcement last night, 28/10 - but says they are very much open still. So I would keep an eye on their website rather than listen to rumours at the moment, just to ease your own stress where you can🥰😇

Hope you are doing well so far and All the best for your transfer! 🤞🤞🥰

Hi Sparkly/Ray - I'm also at Leeds Fertility/Seacroft and currently downregulating for transfer on 16th Nov. I'm hoping there has been some confusion and the clinic isn't closing. I know elective ops were cancelled last week but as you say Leeds Fertility posted since then that they were keeping going, albeit with "short waiting lists". If anyone hears anything different, I'd appreciate posting. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞 I've been building up for this for most of the year, as I'm sure you've been too xx

Hi - I'm downregulating for the double frozen transfer, taking 6/8mg Estradiol (oestrogen pills), Fyremadol (injection), Cytogest (progesterone pessary, after scan), Dalcin (pessary). Scan on day 12 (next Friday). I haven't felt anything from the meds at all and was the same for the drugs for the original collection. As I'm getting older now if this round goes ahead and doesn't work then I'd like to batch as many embryos as I can asap and need to find out if I can do that at Leeds or where else I can get it asap. Just hoping so much that everything turns out well for everyone this month 💖💖xx

Thanks for the reply. That is very true I guess we just have to take each day as it comes and see what happens...its hard not to worry about it all but I know the stress doesn’t do any good either! I might give leeds seacroft a call tomorrow to see if there is any news but will also check the website for updates. I also have a scan booked for thursday so guess if it wasnt going ahead they would be contacting me in the next couple of days x
