Sorry to be a pain

Hi guys sorry to be a pain but I've just realised I have to inject myself after I have had my eggs put back in every 4 days with prontogest has anybody done this before the needle looks a lot bigger and you have to do it in the bottom looks painful and how the heck do you do it to yourself in the bum ? Any tips on pain relief would be grate ?

Hi Shelly. It is a longer needle as it needs to be injected into the muscle. You could try melting an ice cube on the area you are to inject, which sometimes help to numb the area. You could ask your GP or pharmacist for some lignocaine gel to put on the spot too to numb the area. It needs to be a huge blob like a gob stopper and covered with a plastic dressing and left for half an hour. Do not rub it in, just wait then wipe it off and inject. Hope you manage it OK - or whoever is doing it for you. Diane
