First experience with a private clinic

Hi all,

So I had my first experience today with a private clinic, I spoke to my nhs fertility consultant who said the list for semen analysis is quite long & maybe going private for this test would be good as my appointment to see her is in December and she doesn’t think I could get a test on the NHS within that time; now that’s not a problem.

I called round a few clinics all of them lovely apart from one, I explained my situation and explained that the NHS waiting time for the test was long so I wanted to know abit more about the test etc; and prices, she told me the price and then continued to say well our wait time is quite long too. Which I said oh ok that’s fine that’s understandable, I will take a look at a few other clinics but thank you for your time, she said asked why I would look at other clinics and said is it because the price is too high? I actually thought the price was very good, I had been thinking it was more and I said it isn’t the price; you informed me that your wait time is long & I have my next appointment in December to which she just put the phone down, I was so so shocked I tried to call back to see what had happened & the receptionist just kept putting the phone down, I could not believe it.

Has anyone else had a similar or any bad experiences with private clinic? I thought seeing as your paying so much money the way you would be treated would be amazing, she just didn’t have any care or consideration at all.

I did indeed, I was trying as well to do my tests here I uk, my clinic is in Spain, but some tests and scans I had to do here in order to start my cycle.... I did some test, fair enough, scan and blood test, they should be done on the same day to see the results are ok or not.... they lost my blood test, they said they don’t know whT happened but I can do them again for free , just the blood, I told them that they must be done together and I told them that the unprofessional way that they deal with everything was unacceptable, fortunately my clinic put me in contact with one dr they work with and so far I’m very pleased with, the clinic apologies and give me refund for the test I done with, but not this is the problem, when we dealing with such of stressful period they have to be more understanding and careful xxx

Oh my god that sounds awful. I haven’t come across a clinic like that before, although I’ve been with the same clinic all along. Sorry you’ve experienced that. Xx

Wow, that's awful! Our private clinic does not behave like that and if they did, I wouldn't go there. Sorry you had such a bad experience.

Wow that sounds like a nightmare, sorry you had such a bad experience! I haven’t had that experience with either private or nhs - they’re usually pretty understanding! X

That is awful, Chloe. At least they're making it very obvious up front that you shouldn't bother with them! Sorry to hear this and hope you find a better clinic! xx

No, my clinic does not behave like that. They are all very sweet, reassuring and kind. Sometimes it feels like they are friends. You will surely find a better clinic!
