Yes I have, I sent 10 already frozen embryos for testing. For your embryos to be tested, they have to reach a certain expansion stage and therefore, some of them might need to be left to grow one more day once they are thawed, and therefore become day 6 or day 7 embryos. Out of the 10 embryos, I had a poor quality day 6 embryo which didn't make it to day 7. It was heartbreaking but at the end of the day, I'm happy that I had the embryos tested because it gave me a picture of where I was at and whether I needed to collect more embryos or not.
Hi Dogpark, thanks so much for this! I have 3 blastocysts. Two are graded 4 for expansion and one is graded 3/4 for expansion. Would this be enough? If you don’t mind me asking, how many came back normal after that? Did you re-thaw any for transfer and did they survive that? That’s my worry, it seems a lot to put them through xx
I don't recall the exact grading of the embryo that didn't make it, gradings were also different from the ones you were given. I just remembered it was by far a lower grade than others and it nearly didn't make it to being frozen after collection. Eventually, out of the 10, only 1 came back normal!! It's a bit random, basically I first sent 4 embryos to testing and 1 came back normal, even though this batch of 4 had relatively poor quality compared to the batch of 10. Then I sent the batch of 10 for testing and 1 came back normal. Then I collected 9 more over 2 cycles and once again only one came back normal, and finally I collected 6 in a final round and out of these 6, suddenly 3 came back as normal!
Thanks so much for all this info Dogpark, really appreciate it. Really shows how one cycle can be so different from the next. Sounds like you went through such a lot to get your collection of normals. Must be lovely knowing they are there. Are you moving on to FETs now? Best of luck! xx
