Should I book the day off work after transfer?

So my 1st transfer is planned for this Sunday - do you think I should take Monday off work? And Tuesday maybe? I've had quite a bit of time off recently for all the appointments but for sure this is the important bit! This is my 2nd round but we didn't get this far last time (1st was IVF, 2nd was ICSI) appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hi Jen. My frozen transfer is coming up and I’m taking time off before and after transfer and getting a sick note because it’s the best decision for me as I’m stressed in work and I need to be selfish and give it the best possible chance. Do whatever is best for u. Xxx

Thank you. You are right we have to put ourselves first don't we! I think I didn't want to jinx it by booking any time off in case we didn't get this far again... All the luck in the world for your transfer! X

Congrats on getting to transfer!! I think taking time off is a personal opinion often based on stress or levels of physical activity in your job.

I tend to lie around a bit the day of transfer but then get back to normal the next day - which includes going back to work. But I am currently working from home and don't have a very physical job - I do have a stressful job so make sure I do loads of mindfulness and stuff like that to try and chill. also try and go for a gentle walk every day.

I have read various studies where they compared bed rest post transfer with having a normal life and there was no benefit of bed rest!

I dont think I have answered your question as not sure what your job is but just wanted to say do whatever you feel most comfortable with and won't have any regrets over. Masses of luck xx

Thanks so much Daisy, it's good to know how you do it & what the studies say! I think I might wait and see how I feel and possibly wfh or take a cheeky sick day. (It's too late now to book it off for Monday). My work is office based and can be stressful so ofc sods law it will be a bad day if I need it not to be! Really appreciate your advice, thank you xx

jen_TBM this is your own decision so choose whatever is best for you.I am a person who stresses easily at work and generally so I took the time to relax and pamper myself during the first 3 days. Hope this helps 🙏

That's good advice, thank you. The more I think about it the more I think a day off won't hurt... xx

I think you should. You need to be happy and rested without work in your head . You won’t regret it 😘💐

Thanks Rhinocat! X

I took off a week after my fresh transfer. It was my first time so i liked the idea of being a couch potato for a bit. I got a sick note from my clinic for two weeks starting from egg collection. For my fet i took off just two days plus two weekend days so was off 4 days (and worked from home afterwards so i could take things a bit easy).

If you dont have a stressful job there is no scientific reason that you shouldnt go back to work. X follow your heart lovely x

Thanks Mimisami <3 more rest can't be a bad thing can it. I think it might be a good idea just in case, like Daisy and Rhinocat said I don't want to have any regrets. Glad you got a chance to take things easy :) x
