Hello πŸ‘‹, just wondered what to expect at my first baseline scan and what are they looking for? Is anybody starting stims this week? Would be great to have a few cycle buddies? I feel excited but also slightly scared of starting the injections. Hopefully I get some beginners luckπŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€ž

Hey, exciting times that things are moving forward for you!! Your baseline scan is just to check that your lining has thinned down and to check your ovaries to start stims. It will be a transvaginal scan - I'm sure you know that but just in case. Try not to worry to much about the injections, the nurse will show you what to do and you get better at it....my tip is to inject slowly!! Good luck.xx

Congratulations on getting this far! I am also in my first IVF cycle, I've just had a 5 day embryo transferred today!

It's totally normal to be a bit nervous at this point! Basically, as Cinderella said, they're looking to see that the lining of your uterus is ready to start stims and also to make sure there are no cysts or anything that shouldn't be there! On my first baseline scan they found a cyst on my ovary which meant my cycle had to be delayed until the following month. Apparently it's normal and nothing to worry about. But don't worry, hopefully all will look good down there and you'll be ready to start your stims!

As for the injections, it's scary at first but you quickly get used to it! I found that numbing the area for about 10 mins with an ice pack or bag of peas before doing the injection helped a lot to keep swelling down. Also make sure you press down for about a minute or 2 after injecting as that helps too.

Good luck, I hope it all goes well!! 😊 I found that the injections absolutely flew by, you'll be at egg collection stage before you know it!!

Thank you for the help. Congratulations on your transfer. Hope the 2ww isn't too tough and you have lots to do to keep you busy. I will get my ice cube tray at the ready. 🀣
