Exercising during 2WW?

Hey guys, what are your views around exercising during 2WW? My nurse said to continue as normal but that means running few times a week. But I know people who have been through IVF successfully and were told not to do too much. I mean would you say 1 to 2 hours walk is extensive if it's a stroll? Has anyone had a positive pregnancy and exercised throughout even after 2WW? Thanks so much xx

I was told not to run or do any heavy cardio exercise. Since embryo transfer I've just been going for long walks (2hrs+), yoga and a bit of low weights arm and leg workouts.

My IVF cycle was successful but no idea if it was anything to do with that.

I've heard conflicting things as I've also heard that if you exercised beforehand then it's OK but listen to your body and don't push it.

Maybe skip the running and go for the long walks. You could make them brisk walks. You gotta do something to keep you sane while you're in the dreaded 2ww!!

Have you had your transfer yet?

Wishing you all the luck with your cycle. Xxx

Thanks yes sometimes I think I definitely overthink things, it when you hear conflicting advice you worry. My transfer was on the 20th and my OTD is tomorrow! I did test a few times and got a positive line so hoping it will still be there tomorrow x x x

Wow when did you do your testing? As long as it was 2 weeks post your trigger shot then its accurate. I got my positive on a Wednesday and my OTD was the Friday. Sounds like your cycle was successful!!!! Congratulations! Xx

My doctor wasn't very strict, but said general vague things like 'take it a little easier', but who knows what that means really! Whereas I know some doctors want total bed rest.

During my 2ww I was being very relaxed about it and accidentally moved some heavy boxes, probably I shouldn't have and later I felt a little crampy, which I ended up worrying myself over. So my suggestion would be don't do anything you will later worry or regret about xx

I like that advice, don’t do something you may regret later. It’s definitely good advice I will refer to often!! Thank you x

I’ve been told to take it easy & relax. Avoid doing anything that would make me tired. I’ve taken the time off & generally taking it very easy. To be honest I never know what the right balance is. Chel91’s advice seems sound to not do anything you might regret. Best of luck Xx

I agree! Taking it easy is the way forward And we have to be kind to our bodies ❤️

I have been told in the past to only do low impact exercise and not to get your heart rate or body temperature up, unfortunately I haven't had a successful pregnancy yet but during my last 2ww I went back to the gym and felt really uncomfortable walking on the treadmill that now I just stick to walking.

Wishing you the very best of luck x

I didn’t do any structured exercise like running or going to the gym during 2WW although I did return to going to the gym doing weights and working with my personal trainer at about 16 weeks until the end of my pregnancy (didn’t feel like going back earlier due to nausea).

I have a fairly active job so was up and about doing that in my 2WW and although I can’t remember what I did at the weekends during that time, it’s entirely possible that I went for a walk as you describe. I personally wouldn’t consider a 1-2 hour gentle walk as exercise as it doesn’t exert me at all but that will be different for everyone depending on their usual activity & fitness levels. If you normally run regularly then a walk should be fine. Good luck x

Thank you, I guess it does depend on what your body is used to. It’s good and hopeful to know you continued to exercise and had a successful pregnancy. ❤️

An 1-2 hour walk is totally fine! I did this with my dogs throughout my tww. As everyone else has said, I would give the running and heavy lifting a miss just for now but a nice long walk is good for your blood flow and your sanity ❤️ xx

I had my first transfer last year and I didn't do any exercise at all and had a BFN. If I'm lucky enough on this cycle I think I would go some form of gentle/ low impact exercise like walking etc. I find exercise calms me and gets me out of my own head a bit. I was off work during my TWW and I was climbing the walls.

Good luck xx

I asked this and was told long fast walks are ok but no intense running, heavy weights or abdominal exercises. I've been walking at a steady pace for 30-45 per day. Good luck 🤞

I always stress about whether to exercise or not during stimming and 2ww. When in the end I actually don’t feel like exercising especially during stimming. I do however a lot of walking during the 2ww. Clears my head, I am a keen runner but I ditch it for a few weeks as figure just don’t want to risk it. Good luck 🍀
