So i last posted on here in February as my gf and i were going through our second ivf. Sadly it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. We decided to recharge our batteries, exercise and eat well during the lockdown. We were due to have a TIA appointment next month and try for a 3rd cycle. We were both waiting for gf to start period before going on the pill. Gf was 3 days late so we decided to take a test and it came back a BFP. We are so chuffed but so nervous as we have been trying for 4 years and had 1 natural miscarriage and two unsuccessful ivf attempts. I just hope this is our time. We both dont feel excited like last BFP. Any advice welcome.

After a miscarriage it's hard to be excited as you're scared of what might happen. (ignorance is bliss!) But chances are that this one will be fine. There is lots of research on having a successful pregnancy after a miscarriage.
Me and my hubby are in the same position. We got our BFP after an IVF cycle. We were happy, but it doesn't feel real and we are more anxious than excited. We are just taking each day as it comes.
I took a digital pregnancy test (the one that says how many weeks pregnant you are) when I first found out, and I took another one a week later. To make sure the weeks were going up as it would show my hormone levels were increasing as well. That helped us relax a bit.
You could also pay for a private scan at 7-8 weeks to see how things are looking. At that time they can check heartbeat etc. We get ours as part of our IVF cycle. You could even contact your early care pregnancy unit and explain about the miscarriage and they may see you earlier than the usual 12 weeks for a scan?
Obviously be happy about it all and both of you try and relax and be there for each other in the coming weeks.
Congratulations!! This happened to me! I had actually given up on my IVF journey and dreams of becoming a mum. After 2 rounds of IVF and 3 embryo transfers...I did fall pregnant on my 3rd transfer but sadly miscarried at 11 weeks 😥 which was extremely difficult for me took me many months to even get out of bed and try and get back to normal life. But said goodbye to my journey as was told chances of falling naturally were very slim. had broke up with my partner even had to destroy my last frozen embryo because my partner and I had split. Met my now fiance... just as lockdown began I was late for my period...anyways found out i was pregnant! I was overjoyed and terrified at the same time...I am currently 22 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy 😁💙 I still worry every single day and I dont think that will go away until he is here in my arms...luckily my midwife is very understanding of my past and anxiety and have had 4 scans so far..but everyday is a day closer to meeting him 😁 very best of luck to you and am so happy for you both 😁❤💕
Wow what a beautiful success story.. I love hearing stories like these gives me hope and shows never to give up hope, you just never know what's going to happen even when things gets very tough. Sounds like you have been through a lot but am so pleased to hear things are moving well for you x
Thank you for your messsge. It has given me hope. My partner is struggling at the moment as she is experiencing pain across her back. She experienced the same pains when she miscarried a year and half ago. We are trying to stay positive. Had blood test done and results say her HGC level is almost 2000 at this stage. I hope its a good sign. The GP said at this point its not worth doing another blood test yet but we might push for another in a week depending on how things go. My partner also says she doesn't have sore breasts so we are worried that this pregnancy may not go the distance due to experiences so far. Hope im wrong .
Its been a few weeks since i posted that my gf got a BFP while waiting to start our 3rd IVF cycle. We are just approaching 6 weeks. My gf started getting sore breast and over last week has been experiencing morning sickness. Hoping these are positive signs the pregnancy is progressing. We have decided to pay for a private scan at 6wks 5 days to give some reassurance to both of us its progressing. To top all the stress off we bought a puppy just before we found out gf is pregnant and he is zooming around everywhere as well as going through his nipping and biting stage.... lol
So we are having a scan today to see how the pregnancy is progressing. We at at 6weeks 5days. My gf has experienced morning sickness, nausea and tiredness for the last week as well as sore boobs. Most of these symptoms she didnt experience when she had 2 miscarriages, so we are hoping all these symptoms are a good sign 😁
We had the scan and so far our little bean is doing well and is 7.8mm haha. A heartbeat was identified which was soooo good to hear. Early days yet but only 5.5 weeks till next scan 😁. Still cant believe after trying for 4 years, 2 miscarriages and 2 rounds of IVF, a natural pregnancy took place... 😁
Thanks JenRoy. It was a shock to be honest but we are keeping positive. We so want to tell our families but have decided to wait until the 12 week stage. Hope the weeks fly by. Working from home means we dont have the pressures of going into the office.
Just stay positive if you can but it’s so nerve wracking! We’re on day 9 of stimulation in our 2nd IVF cycle. Going ok at the moment.
We did our first cycle in 2018 and were successful! Our little girl is 19 months. I remember how horrendous the first 12 weeks were. I was so anxious. And we paid for a couple of private scans as we couldn’t wait for our 12 week one!
Even after that, I was still really nervous until about 26 weeks.
Just keep supporting each other. And it’s ok to feel negative some days. Such a stressful time! Xx
Another week goes by. Gf is almost 10 weeks pregnant. Still very anxious about each little symptom. We have an scan on Thursday which will be 10w5d. Hopefully it will go ok. Its a shame i cant be with gf for scan - nhs covid rules. Anyway i was wondering is it normal for gf to have the occasional sharp pain near the vagina area and lower back? Gf says they come and go and dont last long. Gf is not experiencing any blood discharge Should we be worried about these occasional pains or are these part of the pregnancy development.
