Early 40’s success stories

I am 39.5 and on stims. (I mean hormonal overload) Second ICSI cycle Has anyone have any success stories to make me feel better please? Had my first monitoring scan today - day 5 got about 14 follicles - ranking between 5mm and 15mm. Blood was fine.. I have this terrible fear I will get no embryos.. or rather I won’t get any to fertilise.... I have worked myself up and have been terribly upset/ discouraged. I feel so panicked all of a sudden! Talk me of the proverbial cliff.. please 😉

I had my IVF the month before I turned 39. From 9 mature eggs we got 5 embryos. We now have a 10-month old girl and 3 still in the freezer. From what I recall, I had similar number of follicles on the first scan. Best of luck lovely xxx

Thank you! And congrats on your baby:)

Hey lovely, I am not necessarily a success story but I’ve had four rounds in two years starting age 41. I’ve had one BFP I’ve sadly lost. I’ve generally scanned less follicles than collected - so if I’ve had 5 over 12mm in the scan they have ended up collecting 7/8, I think your numbers sound great for scan one and I think you are in great shape for a good haul 🤞🏻🤞🏻 try and remember it’s quality not quantity.. masses of luck xx

I cant remember my exact follicle count from my 2 cycles, I always tried not to get too hung up on the exact numbers as its such a stressful time! After a failed first ivf (not icsi) with zero fertilisation, i was so anxious on our 2nd round (icsi). Its definately all the hormones that we are pumped full of! My 2nd cycle as i was in discomfort towards the end i worked myself up so much a few days before EC, convinced myself I had ovulated despite all the meds and there would be nothing to collect. Of course, it was fine. As said above...quality not quantity! And it only takes one! Try to relax, meditation helped me stay calm when i was on the edge, Good Luck! Xx

Hi Leo.

Being scared, panicking are all legitimate emotions. Fertility journey is a very exciting yet emotional roller coaster. Putting our bodies through not just the adrenaline but also meds, and injections can be exhausting not just physically but also emotionally.

Only thing we can control is the dedication, and willingness to go through the journey the results are out of our control!! Don’t be so hard on yourself and try to focus on your goal with open heart, and most importantly FAITH.

I wish you all the best

Nor

Hi. I was 39.5 when doing my stims. I had 6 follicles at my first scan, 5 mature eggs collected (1 ovary), 4 fertilised, 2 5-day blasts, fresh transfer of 1. I have now an 8 month old 😊

Fingers crossed for you!

That gives me so much hope you have no idea. I'm pretty much in the same situation (starting stims at almost 40 and had 6 follicles at 1st scan)

Thank you so much for sharing.

I went through ivf a year ago, the first cycle failed.

2nd cycle at 41yo, 14 follicles, 11 eggs, all fertilised, 3 pgd normal embryos.

Currently 9 weeks pregnant with our first frozen transfer :)

Morning, I turned 40 in Dec last year and started PICSI IVF in March I had 10 follicles. I only got 7 eggs out and 6 fertilised. 4 got to day 5 and I had one 4BB and 1 x IBC transferred and I’m now 16 weeks pregnant with 1 baby on board. The other 2 unfortunately were not sufficient to freeze. This was our first attempt and know we were lucky. There are miracles out there for those of us over 40 ❤️. Good luck with your journey and hope you are as lucky as I.

I started my first IVF round in November at 42 years old. I can't remember how many follicles I had on day 5 (but yours sounds good). I ended up with 31 follicles (a lot were small) - 12 eggs collected - 7 Fertilised - 2 x 5-day blastocysts transferred - 2 x 5-day blastocysts frozen. I am now 8 months pregnant and will be turning 43 a few weeks before little one is due.

Lots of luck to you xx

I had just turned 42 and had my 2nd ICSI. Got 7 eggs and 4 blastocysts. Transferred the 3 best ones and got pregnant with twins. I passed away after 8weeks but the other is my beautiful boy. 14 follicules sounds really good. Have faith. Positive thinking and do visualizations of collecting lots of eggs and them turning into blastocysts. Your odds are still good at your age. It's going to happen

Hi there, I had a similar number of follicles back on my 2nd ICSI cycle in March this year and at the time I was 39 (although turned 40 last week). Anyway I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant with twins.

Don’t get beat up on numbers. We had 9 that fertilised and 5 made it to blastocyst. Xx
