Me and my husband has been trying for a baby for 2 years now I have had swabs and blood taken and come back fine but my husband had a sperm test and it’s came back poor motility?

16% progressive mobility

It’s so hard to get in contact with my gp because of the corona virus but what are my next steps? Do I get Referred to a clinic now?

I want to pay privately if so?

Hi i think it depends on your gp tbh, they could suggest vitamins to try and improve this or make a referral. if your wanting to pay private you can self refer to a private clinic. x

Hi there

My husband had the same issue, if you do go private ask them about PICSI. Our private clinic recommended this and aged 40 I got pregnant on my first IVF + PICSI cycle and I’m now 12 weeks.

Good luck with your journey!

Selenium and Zinc from Holland and Barret. Green veg like spinach broccoli etc is good for sperm. Start taking those regardless of going private or nhs as it takes 3 months for sperm productuon.

Do you know what % motility it was?

Private is much quicker but costs a lot of money, so it all depends on your circumstances I suppose xx

My partners was round about these figures then really Improved with the selenium and zinc. We were also advised to avoid laptops on knee, got showers and tight boxers. We got pregnant naturally after this.

I would say go private and get the further tests done (ultrasound for you and tubes tested) and then you know where you stand and go from there.

Just to give you an idea...our private clinic costs for initial consult is £190. Ultrasound £100 and tubes test (hsg) £250.

These are offered on NHS and it may well be that these can be done quickly, but then it's the waiting for treatment after this if its needed. But then you can always go private following this.

Hope this helps xx

Agreed, changed on living cut out alcohol, caffeine and take vitamins helps a lot and changing eating habits. Mum of 2 now thanks to that and he had azoospermia! Note via ICSI and first round failed miserably because he did none of this and fertilisation was shocking because his sperm was so bad first time. 2nd round double the samples and 3 embryos

My husbands came back as low on our first attempt. Our new clinic suggested he take a multi vit and increase his vit d so he did both and ate better. When he provided his sample on the day they had no issues because it had improved. We were able to have ivf rather than ICSI like they thought x
