Apologies in advance for the long post 😊
So, I’ve been waiting for AF this month so I could start my first cycle of IVF. I’m usually a 28 day cycle. 📆
Even with a delay the previous month (which I put down to the thyroid medication I’ve been on since January) I still had spotting for over a week before full flow.
This month, I’m a week late, no spotting, no signs that Aunt Flo is coming to visit...nothing! 🧳
Now, it doesn’t help that I’m an irrationally impatient person at the best of times. But waiting for Aunt Flo to arrive has had me practically pacing. ⏰
So yesterday morning I decided to take the bull by the horns and be proactive. I rang my clinic in the hopes they could do something, anything to coax that stubborn Aunt Flo into visiting soon.
Well, the clinic said ‘Come I’m this afternoon and we’ll take a peek to see what’s going on’.
I’ll be honest, I expected them to tell me I just had to wait it out.
But, not one to argue, and desperate for a solution, I hotfooted it into London (a four hour round trip) to have a scan and hunt out Aunt Flo. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Much to my surprise, the sonographer announced happily that my lining was nice and thin and there was no reason why I couldn’t start stims immediately!
Cue an unscheduled appointment with the nurse who took my bloods to confirm my hormone levels are okay, and a rapid fire plan creation.
So today, I’m waiting to hear from the nurse to confirm if my hormone levels are okay (if they’re not I can do a quick 12 days on the contraceptive pill 💊) but I’m finally on MY IVF JOURNEY!!!!!
