Very random I know but we have moved clinic.. nhs to private. We have 3 vials of frozen sperm from hubby's 1st surgical sperm retireval at our old clinic, and are in the process of trying to get it moved so we have it as a back up for our 3rd cycle.
Firstly there is a £150 admin fee...that's fine. But secondly to use a courier it can be anywhere from £200 to £350 😱😱😱🙈🙈 I mean!!!
So they said other option is we take it ourselves, but the new clinic are saying it needs to be by courier!
I'm trying to get the 2 embryologist teams to co ordinate and to double check this as I've heard you can take it yourselves if they supply you with the correct equipment.
It's so stressful! I would rather be doing the injections than dealing with this crap!
The money stress in this cycle is out of this world!!
Anyone done it themselves????

Myself and my husband moved his sperm from NHS to a Private clinic we spoke to the embryologist in the private clinic and they supplied the container/transporter to transport them. You have to transport them directly between clinics no detours. The container is huge and heavy but the process was fairly simple and our new clinic were helpful. We had to give a letter of consent to the NHS to discuss with our private clinic and organise the paperwork etc.
Hope this helps if you need anymore info feel free to ask
Thank you for your reply! I'm so glad that someone else has done this! Sounds like they have been really helpful, I just hope my new clinic will except it being delivered this way. Hopefully will find out today. I dont see what the problem is if we would be transferring it in the suitable conditions!
I really dont want to have to pay 300 pounds for a half hour journey we can do ourselves it seems ridiculous! Xx
Hi Italy. This is done all the time, even from country to country. You will be provided with a "mini" container that plugs into your car power point, then off you go! We've done it for years, so there is always a way round this. Good luck! Diane
Hi Italy. We’re not moving sperm but we are moving embryos and I believe it’s the same process. We were told that because we’re moving from Edinburgh to Bristol to use a courier but if we were only going c.30-60 minutes down the road they’d expect people to move it themselves to save the cost of the courier.
You have to fill in a load of forms, grant permission for both clinics to speak to each other and then they will sort the container for you.
It’s actually been a much easier process than I thought it was going to be, even using a courier.
If you do decide to go down the courier route I have three you can contact for quotes if you’d like them. Xxx
