Hello
From your consultant appointment to starting your first round of IVF, how long did it take?
Hi FIJF. It shouldn't take longer than 18 weeks, but still depends upon your CCG. You could contact them and ask. See what the ladies say about their experiences. Good luck when you go. Diane
Hi, have you had your consultant appointment, if it’s the very first appointment (felt like a job interview and was asked all the questions my GP and gynaecologist asked already) i was June-November but I was bloods and treatment protocol September. Let me know and I can give you better dates x
Yes! We had that appointment. She said she would be sending our referral to CCG as soon as she received our blood test results. I'm really hoping the referral has been done! X
I read your other comments about not being referred yet. Hopefully they will take your appointment date as that happened at one point with me. My appointment we abit like 1 a month until October so it fitted in with my cycles. Once you get the protocol sorted it passes quicker and much better for your mental health at that point. X
Thank you DianeArnold & MumofaSpaniel
I suppose everywhere is different but it's nice to have an idea! I get married in 15 months so I'm kinda freaking out!
Because my OH has a condition and they spent 18+ months on tests for him, it's taken 2.5 years to get to where we are - expecting egg collection on Wednesday on our first cycle.
Like you both, we had booked our wedding during the process, we got married in June last year.
Good luck with IVF and your wedding x
Thank you for your kind wishhes! Just spoke to the secretary and I am devastated. Our referral has been sat there for 6 weeks and not even sent. I could cry. This TTC malarkey is so overwhelming! Wishing you the best of luck. X
I found planning the wedding was a good distraction to the long waiting game for appointments etc but I understand how you feel. You might just need to give the process a bit of a kick now and again x
Thank you. I hate that I feel like I can’t relax until I know when it’s going to happen. If we were marrying in the U.K, I wouldn’t be so stressed, but our wedding is in Cyprus and there’s 90 people coming so I’m just really anxious 😟 X
We got married in Malta and had 63 people join us so I know exactly how you feel. Take out wedding insurance that covers pregnancy JUST in case but you are getting married in Europe so all possibilities should be fine. We talked about that and could manage a small baby, or a bump on the wedding day and it wouldn't be too much stress. The only concern would be the no-travel period which i think is after the 8 month mark but you would consult your doctor etc before you travel.
Please dont be anxious, planning your wedding and planning for a baby should be exciting times. Just be prepared to 'alter' certain things if needed, that took the stress away for me as I had back up plans prepared in my mind x
So we had our gp meeting and she completed the referral to be seen for fertility there and then and they called about 2 weeks later, an issue with them putting something incorrect on form led to a little delay. From then it was about 8 or so weeks for our initial consultation where we opted for iui, even though they would had let us do ivf if we chose.
IUI didn't work. Our referral for ivf was completed at our last iui appointment, nurse had faith in it working 🙄 then it was about 5 weeks I think until some tests then a few weeks until consultant appointment and we started my second cycle after, because we were too late to have meds delivered etc before the other cycle.
So our last iui was 24th Jan and we had our first transfer that April. I think it really depends on your area though tbh. I was shocked at how quick we were in the game. I hope that they send your forms off soon and you ❤️🍀🤞 xxx
Took 2 years with me I’m not wasting my time waiting this time as I’m on a ticking clock. Hopefully yours won’t take this long xxxx
Hi,
I am NHS funded and had my consultant appointment in June where I was officially put on the waiting list by my IVF doctor.. I finally started my first round of IVF 3 weeks ago, I received my ‘top of the waiting list appointment’ in November.
X
I had my referral sent off in December, my first clinic appointment was in early January and I started my first cycle in February (could also have been January but I missed the window because of where I was in my cycle.) so for me the wait wasn’t long at all. I think it very much depends on where you live. Hope it all moves quickly for you. X
