Hi everyone.

Hopefully there is someone out there that can help me.

In June I had a sperm test and the results wasn’t that good, I have added the results below.

I recently had another one done and there is something’s I don’t understand. Me and my wife are not seeing the fertility doctor till February and it’s playing on my mind. I hope someone out there can shed some light.

After getting the previous test done I have changed everything trying to improve it. I have even gone as far as not worn pants to keep them cooler.

Things I don’t understand.

Motile count 10.44M/ML

Previous test 3.23 M/ML

Is this better or worse?

I have added the result pictures below. The date of the tests is in the top left corner.

Thank you for your time.

This is better than your previous one. You have more sperm that move/swim correctly which means this is better. Hope that helps.

Hi, not sure if the pic is your recent or previous results but WHO guidelines for morphology is >=4%, so anything less than that is flagged as an issue for investigation. Yours in the picture is 2% hence the comment about morphology being below normal counts. Morphology is the look and shape of the sperm, ie do they look normal. I’d suggest asking for a urologist referral as they specialise in this area. Good luck!

Hi

Thank you for your reply.

This is my most recent one. I don’t know why but it wouldn’t let me put up two pictures. Basically my last test the morphology was 3%. I’m not sure why it is at 2% this time, especially as all other factors have improved.

I’ll add my previous results.

Sperm concentration 17m/ml

Now it’s 29

Motile count 3.23

now 10.44

Total sperm 45.90m/ml

Now 69.60

Clumping type- agglutination

Now none

Total mortality 19%

Now 36%

What I do know is sperm results are very volatile so you would expect to see differences each time X

Hi

thank you for your message.

Yes I agree, these test were done 5 months apart from each other. It’s surprising, my first test was done with what I considered at the time a healthy lifestyle. I have been a vegan for 4 months and it’s surprising the difference in results.

Hi, my husband just had a detailed semen analysis done as we found out he had fragmentation so went to go see a urologist. His original semen analysis was normal but we later found out there was fragmentation hence the more detailed recent analysis to see if the supplements we had added had made a difference. Looking at yours it does look like the motile count is better but from what I can see on my husband’s report they are looking for 40% or more to be motile, and 32% or more to be progressively motile. It would be worth considering getting a referral to a urologist who specialises in infertility if you can prior to your fertility clinic appointment since that isn’t until February. Since my husband’s semen analysis was normal in the first instance we didn’t go until we’d gotten the fragmentation results back but had we had that information before it would have saved us some unsuccessful cycles. Wishing you all the best

I would say it looks okay but morphology is low. My husband has 1% morphology and it’s very difficult to improve.

Maybe try some good quality vitamins to help improve it all. My husband had some delivered from Germany and when we did IVF they said his sample looked great after 3 months of them.
