Hi Laney

Whilst it's a US and not a UK podcast I did find 'Creating a Family' offers a very interesting and considered range of podcasts, which touch on many issues faced by both adopted and donor children (we've gone down the DE route). It's produced by the National Infertility and Adoption Education and Support non-profit. I really haven't found anything comparable in the UK yet so would be interested to see what others recommend.

All the best with the adoption process xx

Hi Laney, we went to a council adoption event. It was really useful and they have them every month in the west midlands. It would be worth looking to see if they have similar near you.

Hi. We’re in the early stages too. I am listening to the adoption and fostering podcast at the moment. I also listened to the radio 4 the adoption podcast which was excellent. In terms of reading material I read the Sally Donovan No Matter What book and then her Unofficial Guide to Adoption. I really enjoyed these as they’re so easy to read. I also read Why Can’t Make my Child Behave which is about therapeutic parenting. I found this very helpful to think about how being an adoptive parent will be very different from being a biological parent. Finally, I completed the first steps online learning modules. They’re very straightforward and easy to do. You’ll be asked to do them anyway if you go down the local authority route. I hope that helps. Good luck with it all. xxx

Hiya, we have started looking into adoption and found one of the info evenings that our local authority run really helpful. They talk you through the process and our also had a talk from an adoptive parent. They gave us a reading list and I've started with ‘real children, real parents’. Podcasts are ace, first for adoption have a series of them and there was another one called ‘the adoption’ which followed 2 children through the process which i found interesting, made me blub a few times though!

Give me a message if you would like, would be nice to chat with someone also thinking of going down this route. We are just at the very beginning and i was nervous about it first but now im excited to think that our kids are out there somewhere x
