As some of you know, currently in the midst of my withdrawal bleed after my second FET, which resulted in a chemical. Was asked to stop the meds as HCG too low to be viable. Now, both this withdrawal bleed and the one after previous FET haven’t been half as bad as I feared. As a matter of fact, I find them “lighter” in flow (by quite a margin!) than my normal periods are. Those tend to be insane, and whilst I welcome a more manageable period (practically, as emotionally these are of course harder), I’m wondering if it isn’t weird to have only half the amount of flow. My lining should’ve been nice and plump? Any explanations for this? Something to worry about? Would appreciate your stories and/or wisdom. Thanks!

I can only give my experience when I had my last miscarriage and the bleed for this one after stopping the meds they were quite similar. I only really had a full on bleed for a little while a few hours, passed some tissue and after that everything died down to just spotting for a couple of days. The first time around I had a scan to check the pregnancy tissue has passed as my hCG was much higher but I didnt shed any of my lining and this time it looks the same (didnt have a scan) just passed pregnancy.xx
Thanks for your reply and again so sorry you’re having to go through this. Really hope the progesterone absorption revelation will mean next time things will be better! I asked my clinic whether we should test but the consultant sounded (over)confident that the hormones should be plenty.
Somewhat reassuring to hear that I’m not the only one who doesn’t seem to get a crazy bleed (or even a normal period one) after a chemical or miscarriage. Still surprises me though. Has your next natural period then been super horrendous?
Thank you! My NHS clinic were pretty certain I was getting plenty of progesterone despite always bleeding early on day 7. My private clinic had me on a stronger dose but its clearly not enough, I think Im just a nightmare for absorbing meds full stop!
My periods are not that bad for normal if Im honest, Im pretty lucky. I was dreading the nest period and I would say that my withdrawal was heavier than my normal bleed but still wasnt horrendous! Hopefully you dont suffer too much either!xx
On the brighter side of things: I haven’t had any early break-through bleeding so maybe I should confide in the progesterone. My only reference of success was my daughter which we got after a fresh transfer of the second IVF cycle. But I guess when a fresh cycle, your natural hormones get topped up with extra progesterone. I was on only one pesky pessaries three times a day. with the FET two, thrice a day...
I had something very similar but no idea why I’m afraid.
My periods are usually really heavy and seem to last forever. My withdrawal bleed from my first transfer was as expected- pretty horrific, but from my second it only really lasted a day and then spotting on and off. So frustrating and like you say, makes you wonder if the lining wasn’t quite up to scratch despite being measured?? X
Thanks for replying Solly. It’s weird isn’t it? Mine is heavier than yours sounds like, but more like the days I was on the pill. I went on those as a young teenager to manage terrible periods. Now those terrible ones have been back for a few years off the pill. 5-7 days, bleeding through a maxi tampon in a couple of hours if even that. But not this bleed. Glad it’s manageable but I guess it’s the insecurity kicking in, wondering if it’s a sign of something being wrong or suboptimal...
Hi sorry do you mean the first period after chemical/mc? I usually have lighter periods after miscarriages for a couple of cycles, my flow is never really heavy anyway just med/light.
Yes, I meant the very first bleed you get when you stop the meds. That’s the one I’m in now. But I guess in a few weeks I might have a question about the next period, so your answer covers both, thanks! Sorry to hear you’ve had to go through those too though- that isn’t great
Sorry mine were natural conceptions so no idea about meds affecting bleeding, prob varies between woman to woman also. Mc is awful big hugs to u x
