Graduated from infertility row to IVF clinic! 🙋🏼‍♀️

Hi all - just thought I’d share a little update from me. We went for our first and second NHS appointment and were referred to our local clinic for NHS SSR/ IVF + ICSItreatment (1 go in Northamptonshire). It has felt like forever waiting those 5 months for the first appointment, however in hindsight I feel strangely glad I did have to wait as I have been taking the time to cope with the grief I felt at not ever being to conceive naturally, as well as the fear of what the future may or may not hold.

I have been doing CBT and generally looking after myself (which has included a lot of rest) and I feel better for it and less like my emotions and ups and downs are ruling me and my decisions and panic to get started.

Tomorrow I go in for my first ever scan for the follicle count. Then we have my husband’s repeat sperm test early July (it’s going to be zero as he has no Vas Deferens, lord only knows why they are making him test again) and then we have our first consultation in mid July. It finally feels like we are making some sort of limited progress, and that whilst we don’t know how this or any future things will go, I feel better equipped to face whatever the future may bring having made it through this far.

I guess what I’m saying is thank you all for your support thus far - I’m sure I will be reaching out and worrying again in the near future - but hopefully like many other people I follow on here and on Instagram I will face these challenges and new journey head on, however hard it may be. We all have the same goal which is to bring a child into our lives somehow and love and care for them forever.

Serious respect and love to everyone out there in this community, whatever stage you are at. You’re all so inspirational, even when you don’t think you are.

♥️♥️♥️

Hi thanks for the message, yes it does - finally feel like we are at least moving forwards, even if we don’t know how long the journey may be or if we’ll ever reach our destination! Thanks so much xxx

Hello

Thanks for your lovely post!

It is a exciting (and terrifying) to feel like things are actually progressing. At the same time , if you're like me anyway, you are probably counting down the days. It sounds like you have done a great job preparing for the process and not rushing. I decoded to delay starting my first IVF cycle by 3 months just to ge tin the right headspace, sorting out my diet, completing work deadlines, and exercising so I'm as prepared as I can be going in. I've also done a ton of research haha!

I hope all goes well with your appointment keep us updated on your journey.

xx

Thanks lovely. Just had the scan and it didn’t go exactly as I’d hoped - 4 follicles on left ovary, 7 on right. She said my left is small... not sure exactly what this means.
