Hi there! I'm new here and at 42 I'm going through my first IVF round where I transferred 2 blastocysts. I'm reaching the end of the 2ww and tested a couple of days ago at 9 days (with an early response test) and it was negative. I am nevertheless continuing medication and will retest on day 14, but I was wondering if there were "rational" explanations as to why the test shouldn't show a faint positive line at this stage, if I really had any remaining chance to be pregnant.
Shouldn't the blastocysts have implanted by day 9? Can the medication that I am taking influence the test result?
Many thanks in advance.
Best,
Elsa

You're right, a lot of ladies do get a postive around day 9....however there are some outsiders that have late implantation. I got a late one last time and I only got a very faint BFP 12dp5dt and it continued to rise - you can have a look at my old posts as there is a pic. I did however lose the pregnancy at 6wks sadly. Two of my friends didnt get a positive until later too, one at day 12 (with FRER) and she has a little girl. My other friend got a negative on day 12 and a positive on day 14 though unsure what kind of test she used, it may not have been a sensitive one. The medication doesnt influence the result but it stops a bleed, when you stop your progesterone levels will drop and induce a withdrawal bleed. Best of luck.xx
It could just be that there isn't enough hormone in your urine yet. I've heard of people who were definitely pregnant but didn't get a positive on a home pregnancy test for ages.
Hold in there. Wishing you the best of luck and keep us posted!
I've seen on here where ladies have done tests the day before OTD and got a negative and then on OTD get a positive. When I got a negative on my 1st cycle with a 5dt on OTD, my clinic told me to continue with my pessaries for a further 3 days and test again, AF hadn't arrived and I had quite a few symptoms. I then tested 3 days later and was still negative, at which point they told me to stop the progesterone pressaries which I did and by that afternoon, bleeding had started. For the clinic to make me go a further 3 days, they must have thought there was still a chance, especially as I hadn't had any bleeding. Good luck for your OTD xx
Also, I'm under a lot of progesterone (not just pessaries, but also injections, pills etc...) so I think I won't bleed anyway until I stop the progesterone.
Just Clear Blue early detection. My private clinic were not fussy with my tests. Also I was only on 2 pessaries on that cycle (I was upped on subsequent cycles). 🤞🏼 for you xx
Tested today again (at OTD-1), it's still a BFN (with First Response and ClearBlue). I'll test again tomorrow for the form but I know what's coming It's devastating. No embryo attached.
