My cervix keeps going soft to hard and then high to low and changes each day. Is this normal in early pregnancy? Can bowel changes cause this?

Cervix changes during pregnancy
I’ve had the same and doubting whether I’m checking it properly or not.
Can I suggest that you leave your cervix alone? You don't want to cause an infection or a bleed. The cervix is more likely to bleed in pregnancy due to increased blood supply. And an infection at the early stages of pregnancy can cause birth defects or worse. I know this is a worrying time as you wait to be certain its a viable and healthy pregnancy. But have some confidence in your body, and stop prodding and poking around
I agree with Jacqui84 definitely leave the cervix well alone! The early weeks are horrendous & I have full empathy for you. I still get nervous & I’m 35 weeks +5 days.
If you are seriously concerned about position of your cervix I would ask a nurse practitioner or GP to have a look. I think it’s too difficult for us to tell ourselves. If that gives you some reassurance then it’s worth doing & they won’t mind, probably prefer you to do that then worry & then poke it yourself . Cervix is very sensitive especially in early pregnancy & it’s there to keep the baby safe & you don’t want to risk bleeding or infection in this early stage of your pregnancy.
I had spotting throughout 6-14 weeks & had clear scans where they were certain it was nothing to do with my baby, the GP believed it was my cervix ( I had awful constipation tmi sorry & thought that had irritated the cervix)
Hope your scan goes well & gives you some reassurance xoxo
I had an examination 2 days in a row and the nurse mentioned it. Thank you for being immediately judgemental.
I wasn’t being judgmental only trying to give helpful advice. If you read my comment properly you would’ve read I have full sympathy for you as I am struggling with anxiety around my pregnancy even at 35 weeks. I was trying to be kind.Poking the cervix can cause bleeding & infection which isn’t good for you or baby. I had bleeding & it’s very stressful. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I refuse to get drawn into an argument my comment was done with nothing but kindness...
Sorry but my first thought was why are you even touching your cervix! I don’t think anyone was having a go just giving their opinion/advice. You didn’t explain why and to be fair no nurse has ever internally examined me during my 2 full term pregnancies what was the reasons why? What did the nurse say?
Thank you. I was not being judgemental. I didn’t know she was examined by a nurse, I thought she was just checking herself & worrying. So I was trying to put her mind at rest. Really I think the nurse shouldn’t have worried her like that, should’ve referred her to see a Gp. I’ve gone to see a nurse & it’s out of their area of expertise they have booked me to see a GP usually that same day.
I didn’t have any internal examinations with my first full term pregnancy ( my grown up son) I have had one with this pregnancy but that was due to spotting & instead of sending me the EPU she examined my cervix at 14 weeks( I had clear scan at 10 weeks and 12 weeks) & said my cervix was firm & high.
I have found being pregnant after ttc for 7 years very worrying & I’d be the last person to make any judgement. I was a serial tester in the early weeks 🙈 you have to do what you have to do !!!
I hope everything is going well with you? xoxo
I'm very early on, just 6 weeks and using Cyclogest pessaries on a daily basis morning and night, vaginally. To be fair, it's hard not to touch the cervix in some way when inserting them. I've noticed the position changes quite a bit, and my nurse when giving me the instruction to continue says the progesterone can cause it to feel very soft, and even bleed. So I don't think you should worry about it too much. Don't think the cervix final resting place during pregnancy is established immediately or that early on, and can vary person to person x
