I am new to IVF I have been trying to research as much as possible, but it seems to be hurting my head with all the confusing information.
I am trying to plan to start my IVF treatment Journey in June as it is very costly in the U.K. I have chosen to go abroad to Cyprus.
To start of with I was getting quoted for IVF/ICSI treatment... the prices was great so I started to get excited until I then realise that none of the prices included all the medication needed 😔
Now after a lot of searching and the doctor finalising I now know what medications I need to start my treatment unfortunately due to low AMH I have to have one of the costly ones.
the one thing confusing me is it was then sprung on me that I have to get aftercare medications too. When looking into IVF treatments no where has mentioned this.
Can anyone help me did you take medications from after they removed your eggs up until 12 weeks of pregnancy (if your lucky enough it works) ????
I’m so confused and just don’t want to be taking so much medications if it is not needed
Please help 😊

I think the after care medicine you have seen mentioned must be progesterone support after transfer. Some people are prescribed injections, some use pessaries. It's nowhere near as expensive as the stimulation medication. I did a frozen transfer and started taking the progesterone a few days before that until around week 10 of my pregnancy. With a natural pregnancy your body produces progesterone itself after ovulation but with IVF you need to take it, it stops the lining of the uterus breaking down.
Good luck with your plans. There's a lot of information to take in, but go one step at a time and don't let it overwhelm you, it will all fall into place xxx
Thank you, that’s helped me a little this is the list the doctor is saying I need.
These are the post treatment medication that you'll need:
Estrofem
Aspirin
Folic asit
Progestan
Prednol
Proluton depot
Clexane
The thing is I am happy to take if it is needed I am just worried because I’ve heard about the progesterone support injections you have spoken about and folic acid and aspirin but not all the rest of it.
Thank you for your help I hope all went well with your treatment
