Period flu a cause?

I get really bad period flu just before my AF and in the first few days. I always have. I get very ill with it and have had to leave work before. I have had all tests and I have unexplained fertility. Do you think there could be something underlying that’s causing both?

Hi Jennielouise. I very much doubt that the condition known as period flu could cause fertility problems. If you have been trying to get pregnant for sometime, then you need to see your GP for some blood tests and possible referral to a specialist. I hope you can soon get a consultation to see if you do have a problem. Good luck. Diane

Hi Diane. Thanks for your reply. But I said I’ve had all the tests and was just told I had unexplained infertility

Hi. Then if you’ve been trying for the time your

CCG specify, you probably need to have some fertility treatment specific for you. Diane

What is a CCG sorry? I went to a private clinic as I don’t currently meet the criteria for NHS. They just said it’s not the main causes so it’s just ivf as an option. That doesn’t feel specific to me. I struggle to accept that they can a specific treatment if they don’t know what’s wrong

Hi. It is Clinical Commissioning Group, who set up local criteria for NHS treatment. IVF is often recommended, even when a cause for fertility problems can’t be found. I can send you a list of questions to look through if you want, before seeing a specialist again. If you want them, please email me in confidence to support@fertilitynetworkuk.org and I will send them when back in my office on Friday. Diane
