Hey ladies, I have our first appointment next Monday after our first failed fresh ivf cycle. I am wondering about the review - the expectations out of it? I know all individual of course but does this help , I hope it does it terms of moving on somewhat emotionally and also in terms of a plan
But also what went wrong? I think it may be egg quality, mine and my husband are healthy no issues so far and unexplained infertility we are 30/33. But only retrieved 3 eggs, 1 to day 5 didn’t reach a blastocyst and 5% chance pregnancy which didn’t happen.
So any advice for the first review meeting would be so much appreciated! Thanks in advance xxx

Diane has some great advice and questions to ask on follow up appointments. I emailed her for them before mine and they helped structure what I wanted to know. I didn’t find it a useful meeting as you wants lots of answers but more often than not they don’t have any and want to try again but maybe with different medication.
Good luck and hopefully your next round will be more successful, I was lucky the 2nd time round after changing clinics. Keep us updated and sending you lots of baby dust. Xx
I’m not sure who Diane is? Is it an administer or? Thanks I am nervous because I don’t want them just to say oh yet again in a while but I want checking and changes because I haven’t even had a Fallopian tube check. I hope so I really do thanks for your help and lots of luck lovely xx
Diane Arnold runs the support network line and has a vast amount of knowledge regarding IVF and infertility. She’s a brilliant source of support. Just search for her and she should pop up. You can then message her privately and she can give you some advise and email you some questions to ask in your next appointment.
I didn’t have any investigations as I had low AMH and my hubby had low morphology and motility. It didn’t matter if my Fallopian tubes were working or not as we were bypassing them with IVF.
What meds were you on and what protocol? Did you have your AMH measured to give you an idea of egg reserve?
I really hope you get some decent answers, I found mine pretty pointless and from others I’ve spoken to they mostly just want to go straight onto the next round. There’s so much that could be causing problems and they do not always find out what made the cycle fail. So much luck involved. Got my fingers crossed for you lovely. Xx
Wow this answer has literally helped me so much. Honestly. Thank you. I think it’s helped cleared up my expectations and what is important to act on. I think that’s the thing it will just be for them right nex time new or more meds and then off we go again. As you say there’s so many variables that there is so many things differing.
Yes my Amh was 12.1 and I was on meriofort 225 10 days and cetrotide injections for 7 days. I had Northisterone on day 16. I’m not sure which protocol this is?!
Hi, sorry to hear your first cycle failed. I agree that Diane has a good set of questions to look over and see if any apply to you.
I got quite upset with my follow up meeting as I think the doctor literally wanted us in and out in five minutes. He looked at my notes, said I see you had a failed cycle and when do you want to book in for your next?
I was so angry but I’m happy I was prepared and I asked so many questions. In the end he agreed to further tests for me and changed a few aspects of our treatment plan-but only after I asked about them.
All I can say is be prepared and be tough. This is too important and you deserve to have a personalised response and plan. Good luck xxx
I am so so so feeling the same!!!! It’s crazy. I feel like it’s going to be ok it’s notnworked so let’s just do it again with stronger meds. I want to push for more testing. Like I’ve never had a Fallopian tube check I’ve never had ovaries checked so I really want all these things doing. I didn’t have a scratch either but think that’s only for implantation issues? I just want to get the best out of the appointment and really to get something moving forward! Thanks love xx
Hi, I’ve got my follow up next Monday too and I was just sitting down yesterday writing up some notes/questions. Would you be happy DM any info you get please?
Sorry to hear that hun . Few years ago when I had my first failed cycle I had million questions. That time I didn’t even know much about all that ivf so I was every day on google searching reading to have knowledge about it to be prepared for next time . With my second cycle first thing we did we change the clinic...and that was the best thing we did . Our first consultation I had A4 fill with all questions I want to ask the doctor. Maybe to make it “short “is best if Diane here can write some for u hun . Keep us updated how went .xx
Thank you, I don’t know who Diane is?? Is she an administrator or? I really really want to get the most out of the appointment and I feel I have so much to ask. Wow that must’ve been hard to have not all the information we do at our fingertips. That’s hard. I hope everything went well for you. I’m just nervous I won’t have the courage to ask everything I want to! Thanks hun you too xxx
Don’t be shy hun . Before the doc start talking I told him that I got my questions written if he don’t mind . They don’t and they can see that u well prepare so u have some knowledge about it. I did the same with my second and the last one now . My hubby was always saying write what u want them to ask so after u don’t say ...oh I forgot ☺️ Diane is the administration here she is very helpful. Keep us updated hun xx
I love your husbands advice , it’s so right because you hate by the time you go everything goes out your head. I love a good file though and questions. I just hope so muc I can get something individual and to alter our next cycle I don’t think I can go through this again. X x x
