No period for 90 days but not pregnant advice please

Hi All,

I normally just silently read the posts and don’t say much. But I need some advice as stuck and know how great the advice on here is.

TTC for 8 yrs with test saying unexplained infertility. Lost 5st in weight and fell pregnant. Unfortunately we lost baby at 10 weeks. Since then, period has ranged between 20-40 days. Was trying to track ovulations but sometimes it all got too much after miscarriage. Jump to 18 months later. Now been TTC for 10 yrs now. Dr won’t do any in depth test till I loose another 3st. Was told month after MC when I went to GP regarding heavy painful period, that I had to accept heavy periods and nothing can really be done/just what happens.

Booked smear test but due to last period being 90 days ago they done some basic blood work before doing smear. Just got blood results. Not pregnant and all other test ok. Had loads of pregnancy symptom including bloating but had 4 negative HPT and negative HCG bloods.

I have an appointment with GP in 2 weeks and really stuck and feeling gutted that my body hates me. What should I ask/push for? I’m nearly 38 and thinking it may be time to give up. Feel life is on hold.

Hey hun, sorry to hear that things have been so hard, and so sorry about your MC.

I’m not sure what you should push for at this point re- further tests- depends on what tests are already done and what tests might still be outstanding? Is there anything you think has been missed?

In terms of other things to push for, I just wondered whether you’d had any counselling or mental health services input. Just sounds like you’ve been low and perhaps still are (I’ve been where you are on struggling to monitor my cycles as I’ve been too upset about fertility issues - I was also unexplained infertility).

I had counselling from my ivf clinic, but I also went for psychology input through my GP for personal issues to help me overcome barriers to engaging in fertility stuff as well as problems at work & difficulty relaxing. It helped me so much and just wondered if you might be able to push the GP on this as well when you see them. Totally up to you though, I’ve only heard a snapshot of what’s happening with you so hope I haven’t jumped the gun. Xxx

Firstly I'm so sorry you've had to go through this. Secondly the gp that told you you have to put up with heavy periods needs a slap upside the head.

Please don't see that gp again. Keep going to different Drs till someone listens to you.

Have a look at endometriosis symptoms. You can have some or none of them. Heavy periods can be a sign. Its usually palmed off by Drs as heavy periods, ibs or just cramps etc. Could be that x

Sorry to hear about your frustrations. Try accupuncture? I gave it a go. Found it relaxing and although I don't particularly have period issues I had some great blood flow afterwards.

Hi there, my periods became irregular last year. I bled for three weeks one cycle which in total lasted 70 days. I was prescribed norethisterone to make me have an initial period and Clomid to make sure I was ovulating. I have been on Clomid for 4 cycles now. I haven’t got pregnant but it has regulated my cycle and made my periods shorter and less heavy.

Not sure if this would be any help in your situation but maybe something worth looking into.
