I’m nearly a week on from my failed egg collection and my doctor has signed me off work for another 4 weeks (I was already signed off 2 weeks ago as was struggling with the meds).
I just don’t feel ready to face the outside world yet. Has anyone had a similar experience and been off work for a while? Xx

I got signed off for the 2WW and still have a week to go. I’m starting to think I might have been better to work but I wouldn’t be able to concentrate or function worrying about every ache and twinge. For my first ivf cycle I continued to work I got my period halfway through the 2WW and I started bleeding at work which for me was devastating and I got sent home. Even afterwards I carried on and didn’t really take the time to heal emotionally from what I’d been through which is why I wanted to not be working for round 2, in case it happened again.
You need to do what’s right for you, this process is so tough, on your mind and body, take whatever time you need and don’t feel pressured into going back to work if you’re not up to it x
Awh thank you so much for the reply and hope all goes well for you with this cycle.
I don’t think I fully appreciated how tough IVF would be, think I was quite naive and thought sure it’s only a few injections! My work have been brilliant I have to say, very understanding. I’ll just make sure I take this time to heal and get back to myself xxx
Following. Also I'm really sorry to hear about the meds and stress etc. It can be such a tough time. I'm interested to know people's responses as I'm thinking of giving up work or taking a sabbatical in order to do IVF. I don't think work will allow it but think i will just find it too stressful otherwise. Sending you lots of love x
In the next couple of months. I thought I had my clinic all sorted as I've been with them through many investigations but the admin (response times, getting an appointment etc etc) is totally useless and I'm finding that so stressful that we are currently looking at other clinic options. Once that's all sorted then we will start x
